    Sunday

    Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Bath Soap
Soap: Los Angeles Shaving Soap-Topanga Fougère
    Razor: ’66 Gillette Slim “6”
    Blade: Perma-Sharp Super (1)
    Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip
    Aftershave: Krampert’s Frostbite

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

I tried the LASS Topanga Fougère sample today that I got from Maggard Razors. It quickly produced a very easy and thick lather. The scent is flat out awesome! The LASS, Slim, and Perm-Sharp delivered a great shave. I finished up with Krampert’s Frostbite.

    Sunday:

Prep: Hot compress, Crown Shaving Co. Supreme Glide Preshave Lotion
    Brush: Beeline Boar
Soap: Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine Glycerin
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG (1, 2)
Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS Splash

It is remarkable to me how much milder/more forgiving a razor the 41c is in comparison to the FaTip. Two passes, and I could barely feel the blade at any point at all during the shave. Yesterday's shave was close enough that I had no reason to go in for a 3rd pass today, settling for a DFS+ shave that was irritation-free except a small spot on my neck that protested the Aqua Velva a skosh. I'm still on the fence about the Aqua Velva, incidentally, as it's not especially 'cooling' or 'soothing' to me relative to other products I've tried unless I over-apply.

Today I was in a bay rum mood so I re-visited the Ogallala Bay Rum soap which I received from a good friend last year. It has pretty good lather - not the richest, but still very acceptable. It also has a great scent and adequate skincare. The Thayers witch hazel is awesome stuff - very soothing and refreshing and the Pinaud Bay Rum burns like hell for two seconds, but then it feels fantastic. Two thumbs up for today's shave! ;) :D

The Cella SC face-lathered well with the Frank Shaving finest badger. It has a very pleasant scent. Two passes and some touch-ups with the Schick M left me near BBS. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel and Family Dollar Old Spice AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed.

The razor is dialed in nicely and gave a good shave this morning. I'm impressed with the Synergy shaving soap again. My job is technically a desk job but I spend most of my time outside with the crews if I can. We've been dealing with a lot of sub zero temps and that can be pretty hard on your skin. It's very drying and Synergy does a nice job post shave. Have a good one.

Boar Brush Week -The Final Day

Pre: Hot shower, Shea Moisture Facial Scrub, homemade Citrus PSO
    Razor: M. E. Reppenhagen 5/8
Strop: Whipped Dog 3" 'Rich Man's Strop'
    Brush: VDH Boar
    Lather: D.R. Harris Marlborough; scuttle-warmed
Shave: Two pass , plus DE touch-up
Post: Cold water rinse, alum block, Ogallala 'Lime & Peppercorn' Bay rum

For the Boar week finalé, I grabbed my old VDH brush from the 'out-of-the-rotation' drawer.
A firm brush that had no problem getting a good lather from the DR Harris hard soap. The only real downside to this brush, which made itself manifest during this morning's shave, was the VDH's tendency to lose bristles. I plucked about 5 or 6 strands from my face over the course of two latherings. I do like the handle and the firmness of the VDH brush, but it's inability to NOT shed is why the brush was banished from the rotation.
A decent shave—although the Reppenhagen may need some more work on the edge. DFS+

    Today's shave.

Prep: hot shower, L'Oréal Men Expert Face Wash, TBS Maca Root Scrub, Sasquatch Golden Moss bath soap.
    Brush : Turkish #6 Brush.
Razor : '62 Gillette Slim set on 6 for the first pass, 3 for the second pass.
    Blade : Viking Sword.
Soap : Mike's Natural Barbershop stick.
Post: cold water rinse, Captain's Choice Lime, Phyto Balm.

Today's shave wasn't the best I've had. I got two nicks, one on my chin and another on my upper lip. I think it's due to the blade/razor combo. That combo is now out. The cold water helped my skin, but it still burned like hell when I put the Captain's Choice Lime on my face. My neck felt raw and irritated, so the Phyto balm soothed my skin really well.
