I need to get back on a morning shave routine, so I shaved this morning despite not having much stubble yet after the great shave yesterday.
I was more aggressive with the razor today, thinking, how could I go wrong with such a mild shaver? Hah. I went ATG on the first pass because I thought I had so little stubble... Not the best feeling, but I got a DFS and a valuable lesson.
I used the Krampert's because the temp this morning was below zero. My face feels good, but not as good as yesterday. image.jpg

I was up before dawn dealing with the snow that Mother Nature dumped on us last night, then off to walk to an appointment in temperatures hovering around 10 degrees F. As a result of these factors, I was disinclined to do more than a single pass, or to use any menthol or mint shaving products. My face was actually feeling a little too put-upon to reach for the Clubman, so I settled for the soothing Aveeno ASB after a 1-pass SAS. Hope you folks are all staying warm.

Camelot shaving soap madly lathers. I'm totally surprised because of it's performance. It also softens the beard perfectly. I don't need to use any balm/cream afterwards. On the other hand, Derby shaves perfectly. I had a close and comfy shave with Derby.

First time with the 1912 which just came in yesterday. I started SE shaving recently with the 1924 and today's shave made me realize how aggressive the 1924 was. Still, looks like my experience with the 1924 is transferable- I got a near BBS shave on my sideburns. I still need to work on the curves of my chin.

This Dammy is very mellow and the Treets are a treat!! These carbons are giving new meaning to the word smooth! It's worth the extra anti-rust care...wipe dry, alcohol rinse and a drop of baby oil...a little extra care but the rewards are worth it...YMMV

    HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYBODY!!

Today was a first shave. I got some Col. Conk Amber Shave Soap earlier in the week and repackaged it in an old stick deodorant container. Today was my first shave with it, and I was very pleased. I face-lathered with the Parker pure badger brush, and after two passes, I had a near BBS shave. A cold water rinse followed by Thayers Cucumber WH and some Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS left me feeling clean, smooth, and refreshed. It was a mighty fine shave.

    Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Bath Soap
    Soap: Stirling Lavender Sage

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

I pulled out one of my new Stirling samples today, the Lavender Sage. It quickly gave up a very easy and thick lather. I like this scent too. I had a great 4th shave with the Slim and the Polsilver SI. I finished up with Canoe.

    Saturn's Day:

Prep: Hot compress, Crown Shaving Co. Supreme Glide Preshave Lotion
    Brush: Beeline Boar
Soap: Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine Glycerin
    Razor: FaTip Piccolo Nickel
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (3)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (6, 7, 8)
Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Speick AS splash

My lather just wasn't right today. For whatever reason (maybe the pipes got the water colder than usual since we're below 0 degrees F here) it was too airy, and I couldn't get the consistency right to make it stable before it started to look a little soupy in the bowl. For the WTG pass it was no hindrance, but on the XTG it became a little trickier, and by the ATG pass the combination of a blade starting to dull and a lather that wasn't quite right brought the weepers out on my upper lip in force. I was very glad to reach for the Speick and its well-known healing properties by the end, though I am happy with the BBS result, with no irritation other than in the mustache.

I was telling my dear friend Thorsten that today I thought of him, therefore I used this fabulous cream. (Palmolive Menthol) I said to him that it was so nice and cold with rich lather as well as perfect skincare. I also mentioned to him that unfortunately I cannot find him an Anherb aftershave because in Canada there are no suppliers for it. The Aqua Velva put a final frigid touch on a hell of a nice shave. Now, I'll go make my barber eat his heart out when he sees how BBS I am and I'll have a nice shot of ouzo with him after he gives me a haircut! ;) :D

    Boar Brush Week -Day 6

Pre: Hot shower, Shea Moisture Facial Scrub, homemade Citrus PSO
    Razor: H. Böker 5/8
Strop: Whipped Dog 3" 'Rich Man's Strop'
    Brush: Semogue 830 Boar
Lather: Shea Moisture African Black Soap Shave Butter Créme; scuttle-warmed
Shave: Two pass , plus DE touch-up
Post: Cold water rinse, alum block, Shea butter balm

A SR shave this Saturday morn. I decided to break out the scuttle as it is a bit chilly by northern California standards (32°F)
The Shave Butter cream does not 'lather up' but stays quite thick; it was like spreading warm vanilla pudding on the face...:D
I'm getting marginally competent with the straight, and still use a DE razor for final clean up. A DFS+

PLEASE NOTE: if you are considering trying a straight razor this year, let me encourage you. If even I can have decent success in shaving with one—all the while hampered with painful CTS and a clumsy hand brace—then just about anyone can shave with a straight razor. The key is patience and confidence, good prep, and a sharp blade.

Have a wonderful weekend all! I have 4 NFL games to record & watch….:happy088:
