SoTD Sat., Dec. 13, or, oops.

Once again I failed in my attempts at documenting my daily shave. And once again, I return home from my 12 hour shift to take the forgotten picture... which will have to be the record of the day. I get tired by the end of my week at the best of times, and this week has kind of been tough.
So here it is, yesterday's SoTD.

Pretty obvious, huh. I have 5 brushes and 2 of them are Plisson. My favorite brush.

    Sunday:
hot shower w/English Leather bar soap
    Homemade PSO
    Schick Krona 2 passes
    Personna Platinum (red) (5)
    Long Handled boar
D R Harris Marlborough soap in a warm mug
    Thayers unscented w/aloe
    Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel AS

Picked up some Grey Flannel finally and did some experimenting with what to match it with. Not a chemist by any means but after sniffing my bar of English Leather and my puck of Marlborough the mix made scents to me.

SoTD for Sunday December 14, or, just what I needed.

    Prep- x2 Lather/hot towel treatments
    Soap- Bearded Jack's sandalwood musk
    Brush- Rex
    Razor- Star DE
    Blade- Dorco 300
    Rinse- Osage
    Aftershave- HBG Sandalwood
    Lotion- Kiehl's Close Shavers
    Cologne- Jovan Musk

Today I needed an extra boost. So I started my whole shave process 30 minutes early. Not to get done early, but rather to take 30 minutes longer. It worked. Rather than using a PSO mix, I went back to my old method of scruff softening... apply lather, then with the application of a piping hot damp towel, melt the lather back off. It works wonders, and it feels great, so I did it twice. Today I finally tried out my last unused Bearded Jack's puck. It was 'Sandalwood Musk', and it was fantastic. Great lather and action as always, but the fragrance is wonderful. This is going into my favorites pile.
The brush was new to me also. Love the handle. The bristles, although in NOS condition, need to go. I don't know if they are low end badger or something else, but they are a bit too weak for me. I like a stiffer brush. Maybe I am being hard on this brush. It did not perform poorly, but the whole time I kept thinking that it could be doing better. I feel that makes it a prime candidates for refurb.
Today the razor was a Star DE. Despite looking practically new, I got this super cheap. I have been trying to squeeze it in to a rotation for a while, but every time I pull it out, I change up before it gets used. I kind of regret it. This is a lovely little razor. Looks like a Gillette Tech, but nicer. Shaves a bit like a Tech, but better. Still mild, but a satisfying mild, which is exactly what I was after today.
Continuing with the unknown elements of today's shave, the blade of the day was a Dorco 300. I got a couple packs of these blades as a freebie with some other stuff I bought from a member here. Over time, I have ended up with a lot of different blades, so I have decided to do another round of sampling. This time with the benefit of experience, rather than as a beginner. I am finding that I am liking some blades that I didn't the first time, and disliking some I did. The Dorco was good. Very good. Took my time with a fullly lathered three pass shave. BBS results, with no irritation or injury. Despite having enough blades to last a year or two, I think I may buy some more of these.
So an excellent and extra long shave today. A fantastic way to start my Sunday, rather than the confused rush that Sunday normally brings. And hopefully my good shave vibes will carry me through my final workday. Today is my short day- a scant eight hours. If all goes well, I can be safely back on my couch, happily dozing in practically no time at all.

It's a bit schmaltzy, but I figure I can get away with it today. This is my pre marriage shave picture.
Hot shower, goats milk soap on face, shampoo, and conditioner on face, noxzema as pre shave and between passes.
Used my Shick G, proroso green, and Nivea aftershave balm. Old spice for aftershave. A great shave, but, of course, a bit of roughness on the neck, because we only wanted perfection today. probably a DFS all in all

Most Mondays for me is a Proraso Green day. It's a great way to wake yourself up on a Monday. Glad you like it. What is the aftershave like? Is it a balm or a Splash on?
