    Menthol Monday.

Razor: Jagger DE89 Head w Tradere Handle
    Blade: Bolzano (D3)
Brush: TGN 24mm Super Badger bulb w H2 Handle
    Bowl: Suribachi 5” bowl
Pre Shave Soap: Musgo Real Lime Basil Oil Soap
Pre Shave Oil: Homemade Lime & Spearmint
Shave Soap: Malaspina Iced Lemon Lime
    Post: Monster Alum Block
    Aftershave: Alcolado Glacial

-4 degrees outside so really didn't need a wake me up menthol shave to open my eyes for the new week but old habits are hard to break. Second time using the Iced Lemon Lime and would place this in the mild menthol category but has a nice refreshing aroma and lathers up like yogurt.

How do you find the Kai mild, compared to the Feather pro?

A difficult shave this morning as the waterline to the house froze up and we can't get any water. Down to emergency water heated in a cup in the microwave to make the shave. It's never been this cold for this long and it's the first time the pipes have frozen. I will be glad to see 2013 go and I hope 2014 is a much better year! :angry032:

Face washed and scrubbed with L'Oreal Men Expert Hydra Energy.
Mühle R89 coupled with Gillette Rubie (1) & Astra SP (1).
Arko grated soap whipped with Semogue 1520 boar in Steve Woodhead mug.
4 passes in adjusted directions, depending on troublespots (WTG/XTG/ATG) followed by luke rinse.
Ajanta alum applied for a minute, then rinsed of with cold water. Finished off with Nivea for Men Sensitive after shave balm.

Did I just shave with 2 blades? No. Did I just upgrade to 4 passes? No. What's the 411 then? Let me tell you... I dared not to finish the first WTG pass with that Rubie blade. It wasn't only dull, it was also rough like no other. And splashed in goo from the wax-paper. Oh my god. It couldn't even cut through my wiskers! So I changed the blade for an Astra SP that I haven't used in ages since my Vikings Sword discovery. That first pass on the remaining stubble was Angel like! It was so good that I upgrade my neck to ATG and so far my skin looks okay. The alum stung a bit, not much and not unpleasant. I haven't done ATG for weeks/months now, so I guess that was expected? End result felt great and the 3 real passes was very nice. The Rubie was the last of my grand sample collection. It's been a rewarding and enlightening experience to try all those blades. It's amazing the difference there is between the many blades.

I use the Hydra Energy face wash two times a week. It contains menthol (feels great) and also Salicylic acid, so it's supposed to be great towards ingrown, should one get a few. Smells good also and the color is very cool. I love orange :)

    Have a nice Monday!

    Luke,

Congratulations on your Cobra!!! I like them only 2 shaves in so a little early to give a good assesment. As far as the two shaves with the Kai to me it seems sharper and a tad if not a smidge smoother. I am still getting use to my Cobra but I do know I like it very much.

    Best,
    Jesse

Thanks Jesse! The cobra really is a new experience (for me anyway) but I think the razor will certainly grow on me. I'm thinking I'll order some Kai blades soon, when I order some soaps but I do appreciate the opinions beforehand. :)

    • Prep: shower, 3P
    • Razor: Mühle R89 JET
    • Blade: Polsilver SI (3)
    • Brush: New Forest Tubby 2
    • Soap: Arko
    • Post: Thayers Medicated Superhazel
    • After shave: Proraso lozione dopobarba, Bulldog balm
I didn't really need to shave today as I barely had any noticeable stubble from yesterday's shave. However, shaving is such a pleasure for me that I whipped up some lather and had a quick shave. The Mühle was great again - not too aggressive and very efficient, plus no weepers. It's really a joy to handle this razor, because it feels so secure in my hands. I sold my chrome R89 a few months ago, because I got average shaves from it and the handle could get slippery. The DLC coating certainly aids towards a smoother shave, even if ever so slightly. Mühle did something special here and I applaud them. I'm sure the vast majority of the 500 owners of this razor will feel the same.

    Menthol Monday, wooho!

Hot shower + Avon Oil Control face wash
    Proraso Green soap
    Omega 80080
Slim Adjustable @9 with Derby (2nd day)
Axe Pulse AS (boosted)+ Avon balm :Animatedfrozensmily:

Face lathered Proraso, but almost didn't felt cooling. Derby was a bit rough, but did nice job, hope it will face it out tommorow.
And Axe...well, I find that Axes are worst AS I've used so far, too much skin drying, can be irritating, too much alcohol burn. So this summer I boosted it with menthol crystals and some glycerin and gone too far. I've used it few times, intensive cooling sensation for half an hour and more, and putted it away cause summer was spent, but for menthol mondays sake used it today. And daaaym, it hurted a lot, so much menthol made my face red and painful, but calmed and left nice cooling sensation after that. Not a bad shave after all.

I'm Really liking the Stirling ginger & grapefruit, scents mix very well together. The ginger makes the grapefruit not as sharp a scent. It is not a scent I would have picked but glad I had a chance to try it.

A very nice shave today started with the Dove Men's Face Wash. I applied some Rise Shaving Cream and a pre-shave followed by a hot face cloth to open the pores. The Frank Shaving finest badger face-lathered the Van Der Hagen Deluxe shave soap for two passes and a clean-up on the neck. This was the fifth shave with the Bluebird blade in the Gillette Fat-handled tech. I ended it off with a cold water rinse followed by Thayers Cucumber WH and Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS. I got a near BBS shave.

No pictures today unfortunately, but from Egypt I present the Ingram Extra Cool cream which comes in a white and green tube and it has the same delightful scent and lather with an even stronger menthol sensation than the original type. The Gillette balm felt so cooling and soothing, and the Aqua Velva made the end of this fantastic shave feel wonderful. ;) :D
