59 fatboy cranked up to 9
    fresh crystal blade
    vulfix badger brush
    TSD signature cream
    glycerin preshave
home made balm of tea tree oil, witch hazel, osage rub and corn husker lotion
old spice pure sport as splash
clubman 'stache wax to keep things in check.

All in a rather nice shave. Haven't used the tsd cream much since I got a couple tsd soaps. The cream whipped up a nice rich lather. The homemade asb really healed up the couple rough patches I scraped into my neck.

Razor: Cooncat Bob HD handle with NEW head
    Blade: Super Iridium
    Brush: Simpson's Ehsan
    Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
    Soap: Irisch Moos Shave Stick
    A/S: Trumper Marlborough

I decided to give an open comb a spin today. The Cooncat Bob HD handle with a re-plated NEW head is perfectly balanced and was a joy to use. The Ehsan, as always, ginned up an abundance of lather and I enjoyed a BBS shave. The Trumper's Marlborough aftershave does not get a lot of love on the forums but it is really an outstanding scent. YMMV, of course.

OMG! Why did I wait so long before I tried the Speick cream?

This has to be the best smelling non-artisan cream I have ever tried! Love the scent, and the slick lather and protection were absolutely fantastic. Topped it off with a Speick splash sample I received from a forum member, and I can't believe just how good of a shave I got. :D

    Now, off to work...

    Saturday 2/20 . . .

Geesh, I forgot to post my Saturday shave yesterday so here it is:

    • Prep: Rite Aid Skin Cleansing Cream & Hot Towel
    • Brush: Ever Ready C40 Boar
    • Soap" TSD English Fern Type Soap
    • Razor: Eversharp-Schick G1 Injector
    • Blade: Ted Pella PTFE coated injector (shave 3)
    • Oil Pass: Leisureguy's Last-Pass Shave Oil
    • A/S: Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel Toner & AOS Lavender ASB
    • EDT: Nine Flags Aromatic Tabac from Brazil
    • Result: Ooooo! A fine BBS shave. The TSD English Fern Type soap did a great job with the slickness and cushion that I am used to with TSD products. Had trouble at first making the lather, until I added some water to the brush. Kinda shook the brush too much before I began to make the lather. Though not a soap like my Tabac or MWF, the TSD soap did provide a great shave. I recommend it.

Prep: Hot shower, hand strop blade
    Coffee: Home roasted Kenya, unadulterated
    Cream: C.O. Bigelow
Brush: Treville boar, made in West Germany, found in antique store yesterday
Razor: Gem Jr. with the big, fat, black Bakelite handle
Blade: Gem, shave 5, 3 passes
Post: Cold water rinse, Clinique Post-Shave Soother, Curve
    'Stache Wax: Wacky Tacky

The little boar did alright. It doesn't look like it was used much, if at all. I cleaned it up last night (Em's cleaning procedures). Between last night's cleaning and today's use it may have shed 8-10 hairs. Hopefully that will be it.

If you haven't tried Proraso, or their cream repackaged for C.O. Bigelow, let me ask you a question: Are you worth $5? You gotta get yourself a small tube of this stuff at Bath and Body Works and try it. A great cream.

This was my first time using both the Weishi razor I had won from the January Newbie Giveaway (Thanks Rene!) and the Derby blades. Overall an excellent shave. I do believe I may have found a new favorite blade with the Derby's.

    Lubriderm unscented moisturizer
    Pinaud Bay Rum-AS

Bill, I think you would also love Lavera cream, which is also from Germany. It is very similar to Speick, with natural ingredients, so you get great lather, and very, very soothing skincare. The scent is different, but still, it is lovely.

Wooowwwwwww, I forgot Pinaud Bay Rum burns like hell if you splash it on immediately after a shave, but then it feels very nice! ;) :D

    Sunday Shave

Just to set the record straight, the Gillette 7 O'Clock Black that I used yesterday is not manufactured in Russia, but India. I had received it in a pack of Gillette Indian Wilkinsons as (I guess) a promotion. I like the Indian Wilkinsons, but the 7 O'Clock Blacks are not for me.

    Now for today's shave:

    Sunday, February 21, 2010

    Merkur Long Handled Progress
    Astra Superior Platinum (shave #4)
    Simpson Colonel X2L
    Tabac Soap
    Dickinson’s Witch Hazel
    Ogallala Bay Rum Toner

Wonderful shave this morning. The WH alone would have been a fine finish but the Ogallala Bay Rum just added to the total experience. The scent--a very light one--of the Bay Rum also integrated well with that of the Tabac.
