SoS: Feb 28 - March 6 2011

Today was the best shave I have ever had. It was a two-and-a-half pass BBS, and I have a thick beard that went unshaved all weekend! It was the first time I used a Super Speed. Until now, I have only used variations of the Tech as well as an old Ever-Ready SE. Maybe it was the blade/razor/cream combo; whatever it was it was pure excellence. Even the parts under my jaw line where the Tech has trouble were completely smooth without any extra effort.

I was trying to think of what to open with for my little write up, and was going to kick it off with "great shave today." Then I realized I used that line yesterday. And I think the day before that. Then I realized that for the past month or so, 90% of my shaves really have been great - no cuts or nicks save the occasional careless snag, much less irritation than I used to get, and always a pleasurable experience. Whether I'm realizing what gear works best for me or my technique is improving, either way I hit (or realized I hit at some point) a kind of milestone. So in closing, "Great shave today."

This Menthol Monday shave was near a total disaster - all of this because of the cream: Connaugh Spearmint.

I expected some cooling effect but instead I get a burning sensation, my face was on fire... and I had to use double the amount of cream I usually use... and the protection was below average... and I couldn't stand it... after 1.5 passes I had to rinse my face and my brush and switched to the Palmolive Menthol :love029 :freezing Lucky me the Connaugh cream I have is only a sample.

just a 3 blade shave for today. Mrrrrrr, this was supposed to be an enjoyable night shave... looks like I'll have to do some clean-up in the morning.

THis was my first try at the Gillette Super Thin - I can't say for sure if I like it our not but I don't hate it.

Over all Shave - I would say was not too bad.
