Here I am doing yet another two day post in my theme week: I couldn't decide between Sample Size Saturday and Single Edge Saturday, so I did both: Micromatic clogpruf w/Gem Carbon Steel blade C&E Best Badger Sample DR Harris Marlborough SC Alum TSD Neroili milk (sample size bottle) Worst shave of the week, due to the razor. I get weepers from the Micromatic about 30% of the time and had one on my chin. Then the blade quickly died during the last couple strokes on my head and was irritating. Still, those couple issues aside it was mostly good and if that's the worst shave in a week where I'm changing things up every day I can't complain. Palm(olive) Sunday: Fatboy w/Dorco 301 Knotty Erlenmeyer Palmolive shave stick alum Provence Sante Verlain AS Best results of the week (but not by much) - totally BBS. Overall, I had fun doing a week of themed shaves, but won't do it on a regular basis. I see Menthol Monday and Fat Tuesday getting observed most weeks, but the others will be hit or miss for me.

It's late, but I had to check in with an update on my first-ever shave earlier this morning with a Schick injector.... I'd say this shave is in honor of the Den's resident injector projector, Lloyd, BirdLives, who is halfway 'round the globe right now probably loading up an injector blade at this very moment. Brush: Frank Shaving Best Badger Cream: T&H Almond Sample Razor: Schick injector (pre-EverSharp -- not sure how to date it. I could use some help with that) Blade: EMS Stainless Steel "PTFE" Coated 0.010" thick After Shave: T&H Trafalgar aftershave sample Cologne: T&H Trafalgar sample I gave my three injectors a good boil last night, then they all got a good toothbrush scrubbing with some cleaner, followed by a thorough disinfecting and a light polish on the bakelite handles. Results? A very close 2.5 pass shave overall, and surprisingly little burn. Required no styptic pencil or witch hazel. I could get closer next time on the jawline, but it will take some practice to figure out how much hair is removed with each pass on this new tool. It is a little different from a DE shave -- more like shaving with a cartridge that happens to be a kick-arse single-edge vintage razor. I can tell that I am already a fan... can't wait 'til tomorrow for the next shave with this unusual device.
