    SOTD February 2, 2016

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Rapira platinum lux (2)
    Razor: Maggard MR1
    Brush: Omega 10049 boar
    Lather: Soap Commander Vision
Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

This is perhaps my best weekday shave in the past month. The Soap Commander Vision lathered with the enormous Omega boar made plenty of slick, cushioning lather. The Rapira blade in the MR1 glided right through the lather with ease.

I soaked the Omega brush in hot water as I showered. That's not normally what I do with brushes but since this one is so large I've adopted that process for it. Seems to work quite well.

This is a sample of the Vision scent and I'm going to try and use it up over the next couple of days. I have more Soap Commander samples to try and I'm eager to get to them! It seems to be incredible stuff.

Hope you all have a great Tuesday!

I think these bowls are awesome in whipping up lather in no time. Have three in my den; this brown one, a green one and a sheet metal design one.

This brush is the 2nd synthetic knot I ever bought little over two years ago and still one of the best in my den. I may whittle down my synthetics one day but this one is staying in the den. The Pur-Tech in the Frank Shaving brush I used in todays shave and the H.I.S. I prefer over the Plisson knots.

I'm a fan of synthetics, and need to get a pur-tech again. I like those HIS knots as well...do they have a significant glue bump?

    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Cucumber WH
    Dove Men+ Post Shave

My #51 Aristocrat Jr. Rocket arrived yesterday, and I just had to interrupt my scheduled shave and use it. I got the razor in a trade with @Red Rider in Canadia. It is made in England for the Canadian market. The Proraso Green Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #36 horse hair brush. Two passes with my new Rocket razor and an Astra SP blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. The razor weighs in at 70 g. and feels great in the hand. It also provides a bit of feedback that I am not accustomed to in a Gillette. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and then Dove Men+ Post Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Neither the H.I.S. or my Pur-Tech have a big glue bump.

    Todays shave with the V3
    [IMG]
Razor: Bunny or maybe "The Ghost" thanks to @Billyfergie
    Comb: NOTSO (middle setting)
    Blade : Chick (3)
    Soap: Conk Amber
Brush: WD 24MM Synthetic on 3D Handle
    Face lathered.
AS: Brut I decided this after the shave cleaning up.

Todays pass was on 2 days growth. I did my standard 3 pass shave. With the exception under my jaw. I went first 2 passes at an angle from XTG last pass full ATG every where. The modified stroke seemed to get those pesky whiskers better with no irritation.

I switched from the WILD comb today to see how it went. Shaving with the Chick blade on NOTSO there is a definite difference from the WILD. I feel that it would be very difficult to cut yourself. I was able to have a tiny bit of pressure where needed with no concern of tugging.
The WILD I use the feather touch.

AS I really prefer a razor that can be more efficient. I am leaning more towards the WILD and NOTSO with the Chick.

Today when I was shaving I was really concentrating on keeping my angle just right. So I was shaving with a nice steady slow stroke. I was using a shorter than normal , going maybe 1-1/2 to 2" once I got the angle. Some things I really noticed doing that was. If my angle was not right I could feel the blade. It is not a tugging sensation. I could just feel it on my face. When the angle was right the blade just whisked across my face. Ghostlike as billy says. It was a pretty cool feeling to say the least.

After a month solid of shaving with it. Today I feel that I really bonded with the razor. This was not my closest shave with it. It was however my favorite shave. I will continue to shave in the same manner short deliberate light strokes.(ok jokes start here):D

Sometimes it just pays to break out the artillery. I needed a shave, and my truck needed a wash, so the 48 was the only logical choice. Mountains of lather and two passes later...I can say this now...BBS! Everything finally happened correctly all on the same day, after 31 shaves. Will try to replicate and note the particulars tomorrow. The areas I still need to improve are neck angles and efficiency of motion. The strop is going well. As threatened, the Veg finished off a somewhat fiery Alum application, ISZ cooled it off. I am satisfied and feeling good about it five hours later. Tons of snow...other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a terrific Tuesday!

The Schick type A Repeater is a great shaver and a marvel of engineering with its blade loading system.
