The humble Yuma razor and the excellent Proraso cream were a winning combination. My face was still very dry from the Italian winter weather and the long flight back to HKG. I chose the Sienna after shave balm because it is so thick and protective. I like the performance of the Proraso cream but I still think it smells a bit earthy.

    Cheers, Lyndon

    Thanks! I know, matey!
Bram Vermeulen's lyrics are about the simple things in life: uncertainty, the everlasting match between a boy and his father, moving a rock in a river to prove your existance...). He often mocked himself in his lyrics (sadly he is no more among us). Here is the one about the stone.

Nice shave. But the blade surely needs honing (quite a difference with the NOS blade I used yesterday!)
    Have a nice day!

Yeah Right!! I'm hopeless...Last night I unloaded my Shavette and put it away....This morning I re-loaded it and did 2 incredibly close passes with it...If I put my reading glasses on, I can see a dozen tiny red specks from "would be" weepers...5 mins later I rub a little moisturizer on...specks gone..face feels great and sooo BBS....

    Sun.
Skin moisturizing oil my wife had...Turkish name I never saw before...
Arko Shave Stick+Arko Max.Comf.Cream-bowl lathered with Omega 10029
    Sedef Shavette/Astra SP d1
    Clean-up pass (probably unnecessary)with Schick I2/Long's Drugs d1
    Old Spice AS/Arko-Nem moisturizer

Results just in!!! My lovely young bride of 16, (married 16, not 16 years old ) just walked by and kissed my cheek...she stopped and started rubbing my jaw-line and chin and said..."Whoa!! Thats the best...."....I'll take it...:happy093:

What a shave, what a shave, what a shave, what a shave - not even a professional barber could have done a better job than this because I think it's the best BBS that I've had all month. I checked and rubbed my face all over, and I cannot see or feel any stubble. The Pascale cream is another great cream from Bulgaria which is also available in certain countries in eastern Europe. It smells beautiful, (like a rich eau de cologne scent) the lather is a delight to work with, and it has a very mild and discrete cooling effect. The Svoboda balsam and Iced Lime aftershave were a wonderful finish to such a nice experience. ;) :D

This was the first shave with the Rapid razor. I got it from bestshave.net for just $3.45. I am very pleased with this razor. It is more aggressive than a typical Merkur but less aggressive than my Titan H1. Actually I didn't find it difficult to use at all. Normally when I try a new razor for the first time I always use a new blade but this time I just thought, what the heck... I will use the old Feather blade. I usually toss a blade after three shaves and this one was on number four so I wasn't really expecting much. However, the razor shaved well even with the somewhat tired Feather blade. The blade gap of the razor is a bit wider than average which causes a good degree of audible feedback. Three smooth passes and I was BBS. :)

Prep: Brush soaked in hot water, warm shower
Razor: Merkur 37C HD Slant Bar
    Blade: Croma Diamant Stainless (3)
Brush: Custom Bob Farvour Grade A Silvertip
Cream: SuperMax Ulimate 3 Triple Action Classic
ASB: Nivea for Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm (old formula)
    AS: English Leather
Post: Cold Water Rinse, splash of aftershave

I am going to switch blades tomorrow just to try a SuperMax SP in this razor, but I feel like I could easily get another few shaves from it.

It has been a long (and expensive) journey trying to find what razors work and which ones do not for me. At this point the only other DE's I want are other slants, and having a very limited supply except for a handful of vintage ones, I think my razor buying has come to a halt.

Perfect shave today, BBS without even thinking about it, even on 4 hours of sleep.

Today's shave wasn't that great. I couldn't get the lather right for the life of me. I felt like a rookie. First I had too much water so I rinsed the lather off and re did it. When I did that I didn't have enough water so by the time I put my straight down and picked my Krona, the lather was so dry it was flaking off.

Prep: shower, TBS Tea Tree face wash.
    Brush: Whipped Dog silver tip.
Razors: Wade & Butcher on my cheeks, Krona everywhere else.
    Blade: Personna Med Prep.
    Cream: Musgo Real.
Post: Cold water rinse, alum block, cold water rinse, Floid Blue, and a moisturizer on the corners of my mouth where my skin was real dry.

I wouldn't say the shave was bad, but I've definitely had better ones.

Pre: Hot towel and Proraso pre-shave
    Razor: @'48 Gillette Aristocrat
    Blade: Polsilver
    Brush: Vulfix 1000A
    Soap/Cream: Williams with a dab of C O Bigelow.
Post: Cold Water Splash, Thayers WH, Alum, Old Spice AS

Sorry, no picture. As I sit here rubbing my face 12 hours later, I think this may be the best shave I have ever had. I started with a S-N pass which for me is XTG. The second pass was ATG followed by another ATG with a little buffing.

I got a super lather with the Williams / C.O. Bigelow. Kind of wish I had my TGN best badger brush with me. The Vufix seems so tiny in comparison.

I am on the road and the Aristocrat is what I keep up here. I have another one at home that is not currently in the rotation. I will have to get it in there when I get back home.
