BBS with 2 passes and a touch up. On nights tonight so I have had a busy day sleeping! Borrowed SWMBOs computer to post this ....a spur of the moment decision this morning caused me to start an installation of PCBSD on my own machine (a net book). 6 hours down the line and its 11% installed. Looks like it is going to be an 'all nighter' at least

Hot shower with a bar of Razorock Ginseng.
Next in my brush line-up was the Parker Badger. He warmed up while I showered.
I choose the last of two mystery soap samples. The Parker, whip up a mound of lather in the Magic Bowl.
The Gillette Rocket and Shark Chrome were chosen for their fourth day of shaves. The Shark performed as well as it did on day one.
Three passes then a polar water splash, then toning with Thayer's Witch Hazel, a generous splash of Colonmia.
The :wave:were happy to award this three pass DFS, a sparkling 10.

** The AOS Shave Soaps are great performers but I just can't get past the Tallow scent in them. I have bought the Sandalwood and thought it was the puck but I have just recently bought the Lavender hoping for a better scent. Sadly this wasn't the case so I may be selling it after just two uses. Anyone else have this same experience?

 

How would you compare your G1 and I2 from an aggressiveness and smoothness perspective?

G1 and I2 are pretty close to the same type of shave. The I1 and J1 are milder than the rest.

Today's shave was amazing! Everything about it was great! The Proraso seemed to have an extra kick, there was no tugging, the blade was super smooth...it was perfect! A total DFS!!!!

 

I cant believe how you got the Hydromagic to shine!

Nick I have to let you know that the other day I ordered a refill for my MWF, but instead of getting the refill puck, I got the ceramic bowl too. I think your photos brainwashed me into pressing the "add to cart" button.

And you Johnny, your regular use of Proraso made me drop the few dollars to pick up a tub...I have to say, it will be hard to pull away from it this week (MWF week).

 

Let is soak in Scrubbing Bubbles for about 30-45 minutes, rinse with hot water, then let is set is a jewelers solution that my wife has that she cleans her jewelery with. Rinse again and if there is good plating on there, it will shine.

The ceramic dish is a nice touch from MWF. Enjoy it this coming week. The menthol kick from the Proraso will feel good the following week. I won't be using the MWF next Friday as I will be out of town and I have a small travel size of the Proraso in a 2.5 oz green tub. But I will be back on it next Saturday and Sunday to finish out the week.

How do you like the TSD Sig. soap? I've got my order in and am really looking forward to it.

 

It is a really nice soap. The scent is - to me - nice and fresh. At first I had some problems getting a good lather. Too much water and too little soap.

My modus operandi now is to add some hot water on the puck before the prep and while the brush is soaling in the water. Then I remove the water and start with a really dry brush. Adding water is more easy then adding soap . Also I get a richer lather when face lathering as opposed to mug lathering. But YMMV of course!

As this Wilkinsin Sword badger / boar mixture brush is my only one, I can't compare it with other stiffer or softer brushes. Perhaps another brush works better with this soap. You'll have to try it out. In every case, the soap is well worth the wait!

Well, it seems to me as a fairly hard soap, but since I've only got 3 soaps yet (TSD signatuse, DVH and DVH 'extra fris' ) I don't have much to compare with! It is harder than both the DVH soaps. BTW, what is a milled soap?

 

It's where the soap is shredded apart by rollers and then put back together again. So, usually when you mill something such as corn, you're crushing it or pulverizing it to make a paste. Do this 3 times to a soap and you have triple milled soap. Milled soap is usually smoother, denser, harder and more uniform than say a soft soap like Cella. Like grating cheese. If you grate the cheese once then grate it again, it becomes finer and finer each time you do it.

So, that's why I was wondering about TSD soap. Some of my soaps like a dry brush to load up and some like it more wet and some just don't care. I don't have much luck with the bowl so I face lather almost all the time now. I like the scrubbing action of the brush too.

The scrubbing is my favourite part of face lathering as well. But the warm lather of a water heated bowl feels soooo luxury! Both techniques have their pro's amd cons, and I like 'em both! That is the fun of having more soaps and creams. I get to do both!
