2/19/16 - The Didge and The Veg!!

The Didge by K Shave Worx is Eucalyptus and Menthol.

I shaved using a Straight today to try out this soap to compare to Proraso Green.

    So the breakdown is this:

Proraso has a mild menthol feel and a medium green scent strength.
The slickness for me is not that great and has decent cushion.

The Didge has a pretty strong menthol feel but a mild green scent. I smell more menthol than anything.
The performance is outstanding. Very good facial feel with slickness and cushion.

I really like the K Shave Worx line. :)

Ralf Aust with the Semogue 1305. It was all wrapped up with The Veg.

Video is up if you'd like to watch it. :)

I don't think I've seen a gold plated G-Bar before - did you have it re-plated or find it that way? It looks great. :happy088:

    February Focus - German blades

    February 19

    Razor - Schick Krona
    [IMG]
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Brush - Vie-Long 10601 The Pony
    Soap - Tabac
Post - Cold rinse, Alum, The Veg

Final German blade of the month. It's the Schick Premium and I'm pairing it with the vintage Schick Krona razor. Let's see what an all Schick setup can do. This blade is coated with Chrome, Ceramic and Krytox. What, you ask, is Krytox? Well one definition states "Krytox oils are fluorocarbonether polymers of polyhexafluoropropylene oxide". Helpful, right? Essentially it's a non-soluble lubricant, basically liquid PTFE or teflon. Now that is promising, since I'm a fan of teflon coatings on blades.

Lather today is brought to you by the Pony and Tabac. The brush is Spanish but the soap at least is German as well. So, off we go.

First pass was very smooth and comfortable. The Krona is a mild razor so I expected a pretty smooth feel as long as the blade will allow it. And, it definitely did. The result of the first pass wasn't bad at all. Second pass produced a nice CCS and the third pass including G-slides got to a near BBS. Not quite but close. And, all three passes were extremely smooth and comfortable. Rinsed with cold water and hit the alum and had no burn or sting. Very, very nice. This combination of blade and razor work very well together. I'm interested to see if I can find the baby tomorrow by slowing down a bit and buffing a bit in some areas. Should be another great shave! As for today, just a half stein reduction for the missed baby. 4.5 isn't a bad start at all.

    Smooth Saturday
I used the Ahava scrub as a pre shave with Lavanille and and the results are excellent. The shave was effortless, yielding a drama free BBS. The B&M Reserve Splash is a winner - classic scent and great performance.
    Prep: Ahava Scrub
    Soap: Lavanille
    Brush: HIS XL
    Razor: der Futur
    Blade: Voskhod
    AS: B&M Reserve Splash

The interesting thing is: Despite the fact that the packaging says "Made in Solingen" you won't find these blades in Germany. If I wanted to buy them, I'd have to order from the well-known Russian Ebay seller that supplies us with all the fine blades like Voskhod, Sputnik and Ladas.
I have read somewhere that the Schick blades might just be re-branded Wilkinsons, produced for different markets. Would make sense, as both brands belong to Edgewell (which is part of the Energizer Holding).

Good morning my friends. This morning I shaved for the first time with my new to me Maggards V3A. On the site the V3A is touted as their "aggressive" closed comb. I can say that if someone is looking for efficiency this is the head to purchase. It will take it all off and in a quick hurry but the ride is smooooth. :love029: It's like shaving with my RR Jaws but in a closed version. The MR5 handle has to be hands down the most brilliantly designed handle I've ever used for my shaving needs and let's face it, it's just cool. Stirling cocoa forest is one of my favorite soaps and sadly it's been discontinued. :( I've been waiting on the Muhle R41 head from Connaught for about 12 days now. Almost forgot, BBS in three passes. Have a great shave and a great day folks.:)

    E-Shave Badger
    Body Prescriptions

Today's shave was exceptionally smooth I think these Gem Clog Pruf Razors are highly underrated every time I use this razor i get a BBS shave with no effort at all!!
This is the third time using the Body Prescriptions shave cream and balm and again I had great results but as with everything else YMMV.
