    Friday:
hot shower w/Grandpa's Sandalwood bar soap
    Somersets PSO
    Gillette Sheraton 2+ passes
    Personna Lab Blue (4)
    Omega boar
Wm Neumann & Co Heartwood soap in a warm mug
    Thayer's unscented with aloe
Wm Neumann & Co Heartwood AS

Very nice 2+ pass shave this morning. 1st time with the Wm Neumann products and I'm intrigued by the scent of the Heartwood. It's very masculine but also somewhat elusive as it seemed to fade rather quickly. I'll leave the jury out until SWMBO weighs in with her opinion.

It was a good shave today. The blade tugged a bit, so I retired it. I ended up with a mighty fine shave.

    Frey's Day:

Prep: Hot compress, Healthy Accents Daily Cleanser
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
    Soap: Ginger's Garden Oakmoss Glycerin
    Razor: FaTip Piccolo
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (1)
    Passes: WTG (1)
Post: Cold water splash, Pinaud Clubman

Just a simple, one pass, SAS shave today. All of my tools performed as well as I have come to expect. I hadn't reached for the Oakmoss for quite a while, and realized I missed it; the scent is very masculine in a refined, 1980's retro way.

Is that a new razor for you? The scales don't look familiar.

    FRIDAY

A vey nice shave this morning with the lovely scent of almond permeating the room.:love055:
The 2013 version of the R41 is 'mellow' enough that I very well could make it my everyday razor, should I ever be so inclined to do so.
Near BBS after two passes with no irritation. :)

    Have a blessed Friday, all!

No, I've had it quite a while. For some reason I don't use it much. I don't know why, it's a good shaver.

Mühle R89 Jet loaded with a Voskhod. I'm not even sure how many shaves I've had with this blade but it just keeps kickin'.
Badger brush to bowl lather the Mühle shaving cream, aloe.
Clinique moisturizer followed by vintage Fendi Uomo after shave as well as a few drops of edt.

Friday! I get to go in to work this weekend so not overly excited about that. Great DFS shave however!

    Prep: Shower + homemade PSO
    Razor: Muhle R41 2013 Rosegold
    Blade: Rapira Stainless Steel (2)
    Brush: Omega Boar
    Lather: Cella
Post: Thayer's unscented WH followed by Proraso Green splash

I used my new R41 all week and I can say that being more use to it now, it may become my everyday razor. Also, I had been greedy lately trying to push the ATG on my neck and had a bit of ingrown and irritation, so the last two days were cold water shaves for me, for stellar results! I go WTG first, then ATG on the face and another WTG on the neck. Really comfortable shave, BBS on the face, DFS on the neck which is way better than BBS with irritation. I am not giving up yet on ever going ATG on the neck, but for now I'm still not there. Have a great weekend!

    Friday

    Prep: CeraVe facial cleanser
    Soap: Barrister & Mann unscented
Brush: Oscar11 custom with HIS knot
    Razor: Gillette Tech
    Blade: Astra SP
    After: cold rinse, CeraVe lotion

Same set up as yesterday, but I tried dry loading my synthetic brush using a variation on the technique described by Brian Sharp in his shave of the day yesterday.

I put some warm water on the soap and let it soften for a few minutes. That water had cooled, so I dumped it off and added some more warm water, about 1/4 inch deep. I began loading my completely dry brush. The water quickly disappeared into the brush, so I added a little more (knowing that the B&M soap is thirsty) and continued to load. That water disappeared, too! When I began to later on my wet face, I was doubtful, since the brush didn't seem to have very much soap, but it quickly built up thick lather. I added a little more water to the brush and got exactly what I wanted.

This technique looks promising. I like the fact that the soap dish stays relatively dry compared to my normal loading method with a very wet synthetic brush that leaves a soapy mess on the sides of the container, on my hands, the sink, etc.

The shave went very well. The fat-handled Tech paired with an Astra blade is a good combination for me.

    Hot shower

    Homemade pre-shave oil

    Proraso green

    Custom WhippedDog silvertip badger (22/50)

    R41 ('13) w/Weber classic handle

    Feather blade (1)

    Cold water rinse

    Pinaud

    Nivea replenishing ASB

Lot of firsts in this shave. Added an essential oil blend to my pso that infuses tea tree, myrrh, and eucalyptus. Proraso green added the menthol kick I've been craving as well. The WD silvertip is an exceptional face latherer out of the gate! And of course the r41 made its debut in my den mated with the heavy SS weber handle. Excellent shave! (and irritation/blood free to boot) Near BBS after 3 cautious passes. New feather blade and the r41's reputation forced me to tread lightly. Next time I'll be more confident.

2/21/14 - shavette trial and morning experiment

    Prep: warm wash
Razors: Parker SRB and Merkur 34HD
Blades: Shark SE and Gillette Silver Blue (6)
    Soap: Stirling Glacial
    Brush: Omega boar
Post: cold rinse and CC Cat O'9 Tails

I received a Parker SRB yesterday and gave it a little trial. 1 pass with SRB with no issues. Surprised how easy it was to use my left hand. Passes 2 and 3 were with the HD. I must be getting used to the Glacial because my eyes didn't water today. Finished with the Cat sample and I really liked the cold heat combo! I used the bay rum bottle only for photo composition

I have given up on the ATG some time ago, and simply must live with BBS-ness all around. These stellar results are no doubt in part due to my light beard growth, making ATG an unnecessary venture. I DO go ATG for the practice with a straight razor.
...OR it could be you are simply allergic to the beautiful rose gold handle. Remedy? I suggest you trade it to a TSD member for the regular R41 handle and spare yourself future anguish. :D
