Day two using the shave stick/face lather method, this time using the omega boar. Lather was immediate and thick.
My 59' Fatboy keeps telling me it's the only razor I really need.

Have you tried soaking the tip of the stick before you apply it to your face? It just softens the soap and IMHO you get more soap on your face.

Love this picture. You have this way of capturing an image that makes me think, I wish I was there.

No problems it took me days of experimentation and careful analysis of my results before I realised that soaking the stick would bring the best results.
That..... and I might have one day dropped my arko stick in the sink by accident... ahem.

I didn't soak it. Just got it damp real quick under the tap. I'll try this next time. Thanks for the tip!

    Sundays shave.

    Not the best shave.
Firstly I forgot to soak the puck whilst I showered so when I went to make my lather it didn't really go as planned. Then it was my first shave with the Stealth Slant. Now it is too early to tell much from a first shave with a razor, but it didn't go as smoothly as expected. I have read the Version 3 Stealth, which I have read has a bit more bite than the previous versions, I definitely felt that. All my shaves with Vokshod blades have been super smooth until now. I certainly need to use this razor more to find out what it can do, and experiment with different blades.
Having said all of that i did get a nice BBS shave.

    Razor - Stealth Slant V.3
    Blade - Vokshod
    Brush - L'occitane Plisson Synthetic
Lather - D.R Harris Windsor scent
    Aftershave - Williams Ice blue

    Sunday:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Deep Cleaning Gentle Scrub, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
    Soap: Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (4)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG(9, 10, 11)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's WH, Pinaud Clubman AS splash
Cologne: Le 3e Homme de Caron by Caron

Worked the lather a bit more vigorously than normal this AM, and was rewarded with enough creamy yogurt for at least 4 passes. Due to the aging blade and a day's stubble, I took a new (for me) approach to the 3-pass shave, and did two XTG passes, one toward my nose and the other away from it. I found it still gave me nearly BBS results, with none of the weepers an ATG pass often produces. I may have to experiment with this further.

Next you need an empty bottle with a label that says AIR and have a new line of aftershave! :D

Today’s Shave: DFS/BBS two pass shave with some irritation. I got some nice radishes from the garden today - and a little bit of radish on my neck.
    • Growth: 1 day
    • Prep: Shower; Corn Huskers Lotion
    • Lather: Ogallala Bay Rum, Limes, and Peppercorns – I got much better lather today. I soaked the stick in hot water for about 30 seconds, used the Plisson brush to reduce initial water, and added water as I faced lathered. It provided enough lather for two passes plus a little touchup. Thanks for all the help everyone.
    • Brush: L’Occitane Plisson Synthetic– It seemed to be a better match for this lather for me.
    • Razor: Birth year Super Speed – It provided another very close, mostly BBS, shave. But I really need to reduce angle and use even less pressure on the neck. It chewed me up a little today and the Alum barked loudly.
    • Blade: Voskhod (2) – I am not sure if this is a good fit with this razor. It’s not nearly as smooth as it was with the Weishi. I’ll keep riding it out unless it gets worse.
    • Post: Alum; Pinaud Clubman – Ouch!

Thank you for your kind words and you are very kind! However, the camera does the majority of the work and I only do a bit of editing! :lyrtuy5:

Same set up as the past few shaves.

Prep: hot shower, Neutrogena Face Wash.
    Brush: Burma Boar.
Razor: '62 Gillette Slim set on 5 for the first pass, 3 for the second.
    Blade: Personna Lab.
    Cream: Palmolive Menthol.
Post: cold water rinse, Fine American Blend.
    Hair care: Dapper Dan.

I'm really loving the simplicity of using the same stuff day in day out. Plus, the menthol overload is always a welcomed element. Two passes got me BBS. After I put my Dapper Dan pomade in, I was looking and feeling pretty good.

I think I'm gonna take a razor and brush with me to downtown SF and take some photos of them next to McDonalds or on the Muni/Bart trains...just to provide some outdoor contrast to your beautiful shots :)
