Well you convinced me to give the shavette a go - I summarized my experience with my SOTD photo. It was very tricky to say the least. For me, it is something that will definitely require practice. It was as not terrible as it could have been, but it was far from great. I really need to watch some more videos a bit closer to get better technique positioning and stroking the razor. Personally, I think this may be more difficult to use then a more traditional straight, but since I have not tried one, maybe it is just wishful thinking. Thank you for all the encouragement!

Roby!!!! thanks for the photo and inspiration to bring the Xtreme back into my rotation! i got caught up in the hype that wet shaving would never include a disposable but no way. u dont plug in this razor and yes there is water and sharp blades involved ... by golly its still wet shaving! i noticed a few days back my new xtreme paired with the arko was Sooooo greasy! and dare i say too much grease pairing the arko tallow with a fresh xtreme lube strip.., me thinks that shave secret and the xtreme would go together like peas and carrots! ! i plan on going to wally world tommorrow to get the shave secret! Roby does not follow the heard! love that minimalist shave..

Right on! I look forward to your thoughts on it. I can say aside from having made some fine injectors Schick got it right with the Xtreme3. It's a joy to use and I also really like the futuristic look of it. :happy088:

that is funny, i am almost totally lined up with u in trying new shaves! i have mastered the de. and i have used injectors now for few weeks, loving every shave and i have had a total RAD meltdown with injectors as there not insanely priced like vintage de's. so the type g was a great shave with zero weepers using using a personna 74 ! i always figured type e and g were the same till i read up. so i have type e2 waiting and ready for my first use tommorrow ! MY NEW MISSION IS GETTING A TYPE E1. hunt begins! now funny thing is i also got a crown king shavette that was restocked as well, just like yours.... but i aint touching that thing for a long time!!!! see i also have 5 Gems.waiting for me, thats next after my injector craze! again gems are dirt cheap compared to gillette vintage razors. i have gotteb nos 1912, brooklyn
etc etc for under 25 bucks

It takes a little time, and patience. Try muting the corners of your blade a bit with a stone or some such until you get the hand of it. The corners of a DE blade are where a guy nicks himself most easily.

It's funny how easy it is to get lost in acquisitions and forget what it's really about. :)

:signs011: I've done more damage with the corners of an unmuted shavette than a straight razor. If you have a kitchen knife sharpening stone it only takes a light touch and a rounding swipe motion to knock the point off the corner of the blade. Use caution when handling the blade. The finger you save will be your own.
