I picked the Grand Shave King head up yesterday for a steal at an antique mall and could not resist a test run this morning.

After a quick cleaned up and a loaded Feather I put it to work. Three smooth passes but man is thing mild. I need to dial it on a little more but it is a great shaver.

SE SOTD, Tue, Feb15th, 2022

Razor: TNNSER 3D printed by @twhite - Mfg 2020>Great light weight mid range, takes Gem blades & fairly easy to load by allowing just enough room forwarding the top cap to allow blade in. I always get excellent shaves with this interesting 3D printed razor it seems.
Blade: Gem Personna SS PTFE(7) excellent & very sharp, great longevity, smooths out nicely + predictable.
Soap: Ogallala Bayrum with sage & Cedarwood. I like Bayrum because its a nice change from sweet scents.
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Ferrari boar bristle, excellent lather generator, soft split end bristle hairs, nice scrubber, excellent painter.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the cleaned beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups.
Post shave: Witch hazel beard cleanse + Ogallala sage & cedarwood AS with some(clove) + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers=Excellent shave with my TNNSER 3D printed razor with a Gem blade.

Tuesday shave

Soap: PAA CK-6 Scentsless

The new soap, new brush, and new balm were birthday gifts from my wife.

First outing with CK-6 soap, and I like it. As an unscented soap, I'm very interested in how it smells. This soap base has almost no smell at all. Loaded up easily and produced a good face lather as I added water.

I liked the shape of the Phantom Aerolite handle, and I wanted a blue brush. I am a little surprised by the size of this knot! According to the specs, it is 26mm, but the fan shape makes the business end the biggest of all my brushes, even the ones with 28mm knots. Love the softness of the knot, and it was a pleasure on my face, but it is really BIG. The handle shape is great and not too big in the hand.

I was cautiously optimistic yesterday about the Voskhod blade in the Tech despite my previous failed attempts to like these blades. Today was not so good. The shave was not as smooth or comfortable as a Wilkinson Sword in the same razor. I think I will just give up on these blades.

Here is my belated Sunday shave.


Preshave: Grooming Dept. Moisturizing Pre Shave unscented // Razor: Karve Brass OC „C“ // Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium // Soap: Chiseled Face Ghost Town Barber // Brush: Deer Horn Synthetic // Aftershave: Fine American Blend

Great shave. The C Plate came on Wednesday, so it needs to be tested. I have the CC „B“ Plate. There is a slight difference. You definitely can feel the blade but it is not aggressive. It shaves as smooth as the CC Plate just with a better efficiency. I like it a lot. With the plate the soap came in. I have already the Midnight Stag which i love. Here no difference. The scent is gorgeous. The is a slight hint of gunpowder in the background which makes the soap more interesting. Not a typical Barbershop scent, but this makes is even better. The cushion, glide and skincare are (typical for Chiseled Face) top notch.

The Synthie had no problems whipping up a fantastic lather. 3 enjoyable passes with BBS. A healthy splash of Fine American Blend and i was done. Great.

The Williams Mug Shave Soap lathered well with the Semogue 1305 Boar Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Provision Supply V2 Razor with plate three and a Personna Injector Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Cella ASB. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

To be honest these 7 AMs are not among my favourite blades because they tend to be inconsistent - some of them are very good and others are not so good. They also seem to lack a little in the longevity department, especially with me because I have a very tough beard. This one seems to perform very well so far but let’s see how long it’ll last. The Lyko cream is from India, it’s apparently very popular in barbershops over there, it has a very nice minty/aquatic scent, lots of thick, rich, slick lather, a pleasant menthol sensation, and very soothing skincare. The Prep felt so good afterwards, and I enjoyed the beautiful barbershop scent and strong menthol punch from the Floid Vigoroso aftershave. No complaints about this shave - it turned out really close and comfortable!
