This was supposed to be yesterday's shave, but thanks to sleeping in yesterday it got postponed. I have had this 7am blade hanging around since day 1 of my DE adventures. I forgot about it until recently, so I decided to give it a try. It was fairly smooth, not as smooth as my red personnas, but not nearly as harsh as a derby. To sum it up I was pleasantly surprised. :) One thing is for sure...I think the (dried out/old) dregs of my MWF is toast, I cant get a slick lather out of it to save my life! (thank goodness more is on it's way form accross the pond) Today's shave reulted in a pleasant DFS. I am exhausted from the stresses of life, but happy because of the good shave!

    Live and learn
The Merkur was a little aggressive for a first DE, but over time your skin will toughen and skill improve.
The Merkur 33c will be child's play...then you can move up to a Merkur Slant sledgehammer
The Super Speeds are great razors, from Blue tip thru Red Tip

    Thursday

    Hot Shower(soak brush,Savile Row 3824)
    Proraso PrePost creme
    Speick shave stick
    Feather AS-D1/Polsilver (3)
    Cold Water Rinse
    Monster Block Alum(clean brush,razor,police area)
    Cold Water Rinse
Speick splash mixed with a pea sized amount of 444

Another great shave with the Feather/Polsilver combo,it's really a shame Polsilvers are no longer being made.

I haven't had time to post my SOS's this past week and 1/2...I did post the one with the Schick the other day....The rest the shaves have been with the same set-up as I'm going to use today and all have been exceptional...I've used the '38 Senator and Perma-Sharp Super averaging 3 shaves a blade. After that they start to rust, still sharp but no thanks...no rusty razors for me...lol
But one day I used a German Wilkenson which I've gotten nice shaves with in my SS but this one pulleed, tugged and bounced. But only for two strokes...then it was properly disposed of...;)

That should bring us up to speed..All this talk about shaving....I'm now going to grab my Senator and have some fun..."I'll be back..":)

    Thusday!

Prep: hot water splsh, hot washing cloth
Music: Regina Spector, Begin To Hope
    Brush: DVH boar
Soap: DVH, face lethered- am I getting to be an addict? (DVH is almost done, have to get me a new puck! But that's almost just round the corner for me :) )
    Razor: brandless closed bar
Blade: feather, 6th shave, honed and stropped for the 3rd time on the Allegro mod L
    3-pass shave, = some touch-ups

(sorry, forgot to take a pic. My bad.)

And yet again an easy BBS. :happy108: That might be getting dangerous: I might get used to these easy shaves. But it is soooo nice! :happy093:

Have a great one each and everyone!

Pre-shave: TSD ISZ Pre-shave Balm and a hot shower
    Soap: MWF
Brush: Firehouse Pottery handle w/ 22mm silvertip
    Razor: Schick G1
    Blade: Schick
Post-shave: warm water rinse, alum block, cold water rinse, witch hazel
    A/S: Boosters Lilac
    Moisturizer: L'Oreal Men's Expert Vita Lift w/ SFP 15

I was worried about getting a good lather whipped up with my silvertip, but the Firehouse brush was up to the task. It was a great 3 pass shave until I tried to push it and went for some touch ups and ended up with a weeper on my jawline. Never the less, it was a DFS+ and I have to say that I am really liking this injector. It's effortless and it makes me want to look into getting a couple more; like the one that Lloyd is so fond of. Yeah, I think that would look good in my den. Have a great day everyone, I'm off to check out Ebay!

I bet the weight of that handle helps the silver tip load up the soap better. How's the quality of the hair compared to other knots that we may be familiar with?

The quality is great. In fact I don't believe it has even shed one hair! It is super soft and luxurious, but I wouldn't call it floppy, but then again I don't really have any experience with a floppy brush. I can lather my face by swirling like I do with any other brush - I don't have to resort to just painting it on because it splays too much or what not. I hope that gives you an indication of it's floppiness. I had trouble in the beginning getting it to lather soaps, but I think it was because it was too dry. I have since left it pretty sopping and case in point, I went at the "fat" today with it and had no problem getting a really nice creamy lather. It is softer than my best badger Colonel with less scritchyness, but obviously not as much backbone. I am really liking it and the more I use it the more I like it!

    Facial Scrub
    Proraso Preshave cream
    Feather Artist Club SS
    Simpson Duke 1 in Pure
    Mitchell's Woolfat Soap
    Simple Toner with 444 ASB
    Fixegoiste Ice AS

Todays experiment was the Duke 1 in Pure badger. As an indication of my SBAD....I bought this about 5 years ago and never used it. Tonight was its first trip out. I find the handle to be a little small.....but the brush still whipped up a great lather. I swear......my puck of MWF is noticably smaller after the use it has been getting this week! A relaxed 3 pass shave with the Feather resulted in a BBS....and with noticeably less effort than with any other shaving system I have.
