    Sunday Night

    A thoroughly British line up!

    Rolls Razor
    Simpson 57
    Nanny's Ice & a Slice hard soap
    Alum
    Pashana Original AS
    [IMG]

I bought a couple of Rolls Razors last year and managed to put together 1 good one and some spares. I did hone the best blade on my coticule but alas although I was able to get one of the blades sharp enough to shave it was never as good as a real straight, I put this down to not being able to strop properly. So today I replaced the leather on a strop and put Crox powder on another strop that was just about OK. So I went with the internal hone then moved onto the Crox strop then onto the newly refurbished strop.

I then checked the HHT and it was brilliant. Tonight's shave was excellent, the angle of the handle means that I can do an ATG stroke on the awkward bits of my neck and the safety bar meant that I was happy to do the equivalent of the fools pass.

I never really aim for a BBS but tonight it was so easy and the feedback from the alum and aftershave was negligible. I must bring this into my rotation properly!

Oh YES! I dreamed of a day when my friend Jeff will grab the straight finally and call it a success!
Jeff, if you find yourself to be in mood to use the straights on constant basis, I promise to send you a nice and very sharp gift from back the Soviet time!
My hands were shaking after a heavy workout, so I put away the straight and grab the OCMM.
    OCMM/GEM SS PTFE
    Vie-Long horsehair brush
    Tabac SC
    Ceramic bowl
    Cold water splash
    So nice and smooth!

Doug, the Rooney Heritage is a fantastic brush. A good balance of extremely soft tips and adequate backbone. SWMBO does enjoy the Creed T.M.

We've been married a long time and I learned when to stumble during the chase so as to enjoy the pleasure of being caught.:happy108:

Was going to use the Gillette Adj again but the Merkur was just looking at me all shiny. I still don’t know if this is a 1904 or 1906 model. I got it from WCS and the box said 42c. Anyway did one pass WTG and a couple of touch ups.

    Styptic Pencil.....and more styptic pencil

That's right. After tonight's shave I felt it appropriate to include the styptic pencil in the SOTD picture as it played such a prevalent role. I have been hearing lots of fanfare around these parts about the OCMM, and it got me thinking. I vaguely remembered getting one of these as an add-in to an EBAY purchase many months back. After about 5 minutes of digging around the back of my bathroom drawer, I found it, gave it a boiling bath and a little love with a toothbrush and set about my work. Now, I have been wet shaving for just about a year and consider myself to be pretty good at it. I'm not afraid of a straight razor and consider the "super aggressive" R41 to be my go to shaver. I suppose that I did not give the OCMM the respect that it deserves as I typically consider SE shaves to be a tad boring. UNCLE! That hurt.....hurt my face....hurt my pride. I should probably tend to my wounds and move on to something safer.......but I think I like it. This reminds me of my first DE shave when I was apprehensive about even setting the DE89 against my face. Shaving just got exciting again.
