Thursday's shave

Good morning everybody!

Today, i've tried a Gillette Tech, date code D4, I've received a while back. It has the solid ball-end handle and looks like new, I think it has not seen very many shaves in its life so far, looks so neat and new and shiny...

- Valobra Almond shave soap
- Jack Black Pure Performance shave brush
- the afore-mentioned Gillette Tech
- Astra Superior Platinum (new blade)
- Dr. Alcaitis Organic Soothing Gel after shave treatment

Not a bad shave at all. I like the Techs and similar heads a lot (iKon Standard Head, Feather AS-D1) however, even with this razor's solid ball-end handle it is obviously much lighter then my go-to Feather AS, which resulted in me applying more pressure during the shave then I usually do. Although my sking isn't too irritated, I could tell the difference after the shave.

Tried the hot towel trick. Interesting feeling but needs more practice...

Oh man, that Palmolive Menthol cream from Italy is so much fun to lather up with, and the menthol is delightful. The Svoboda balsam added to the chill, and a couple of sprays of JHL cologne ended a perfect shave!

I recently acquired the Simpson Summerset era Tulip 4 brush and used it ffor the first time this morning. This is a very substantial brush (25mm knot, 50mm loft) and it produced a copious amount of lather from the MWF. The Apollo Mikron with a fresh Schick Plus Platinum blade produced an excellent shave and the Musgo Real splash was a great change of pace.

Some of the guys here have been having that 1st shave with their kids, and its reminded me of mine, me with a plastic toy SS with a card-board DE blade, and Dad with this model Schick I2. And I was just shy of 4 I believe...Kids do keep those memories forever, I did...

Today was my Dad's Birthday...It's great to have this razor exactly like his, to remember him by, thanks again Jeff..and the extra bonus is, it shaves friggin' fantastic !!

Fantastic just fantastic...and so easy...it doesn't seem to matter whether I pay attention or how fast, or reckless I race around my face, it always gives a perfect Barber-Shop Type shave. And so gentle, it boggles-the-mind...Absolute shaving bliss...:happy108

 

Just got this number in the mail... followed by a beautiful shave. Thank god I skipped this morning.
