Nice shave. 2 weepers on my neck when I did not pay attention to my grain direction and went ATG on a small area. No sting from the Alum.

Notes regarding the blade: Working my way through a blade sample pack. Second blade from the 7 O'Clock Yellow. The blade is sharp but not particular smooth even doe no razor burn occurred. I will not load the razor a third time with that blade.

 

That's some super gear right there. Love the scuttle.

First shave with C.O.Bigelow. face lathered. Very nice, but medical scent to me.

Superspeed with dorco blade(3). This was my third run on this blade and second run in this razor... Cut my neck up good for a second time. No weepers but definitely stings. Also, I don't know if its the blade or the razor, but it doesn't glide over my skin like my Merkur does.

VanDer Hagen brush. My only brush, from the big box store.

Once the blood dries up and my neck is clean, I'll finish with the Nivea. I like this post shave.

This razor does a nice job on the first pass and I could have been happy stopping there, but I wanted to do a cleanup for the added smoothness.

 

Thanks for the reviews. I'm going to try the Bigelow cream myself for the first time later this week.

 

I've been using Neutrogena shave cream since that's what I have on hand from switching from cart use. So trying to use it up... The Bigelow lathered up much quicker and nicer and held lather better. Other than the medical scent, I'll continue to use it.

Whipped up the TOB Grapefruit in a minute with the badger. Nice slick cushion and I really like the sent, reminds me of summer, so long ago. I really like the slim and next to my FB it is my go to razor. The heavy handle and head gave me a nice smooth shave with no pressure with a Feather blade. The Shea Mango for the pre-shave helped give me a nice no burn shave. My technique is getting better on my neck, especially with a slick lather and sharp blade on (3), so I can buff the area on the right side of my neck around a scar that I have there. The left side of my neck is easy WTG on (5), and ATG on ((3). The Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera felt good on my face and that natural scent was nice and fresh. After cleaning my razor and a little spray of isopropyl alcohol to help dry the innards, I smoothed on some Jack Black. And splash or two of TOBS, ahhhhh. Stay warm!

Perfect way to begin a very, very cold day here in the northeast.

 

I quite like it. I like the purity also. Even though it's called a cologne, I treat it like an aftershave. It's not that overpowering. Expensive though.

2/24/2015 Tobacco Tuesday!!

Prep: Hot shower with Nivea Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO
Razor: Valet Autostrop, French Fau Frame Back straight razor
Blade: Feather Seikan carbon steel SE blade (5)
Brush: Vie Long Horse Hair
Soap: RazoRock - Tobacco #1
After: Home made ASB, Aqua Velva Musk after shave
Cologne: Tom Ford - Tobacco Vanille with a shot of Tuscan Leather

It was another cold morning, so I broke out the scuttle again. The Vie Long brush whipped up the Tobacco #1 easily into a wonderful lather. I believe that I prefer the #1 over the #2 scent. The #1 has a scent like a sweet malted milk shake to compliment the tobacco. The Valet took a few strokes to get the angle down, but it performed well. The Frenchy just sang as it did it's work. The AV brought some protection and the Tom Ford combo will have me smelling marvelously all day. There were a couple of weepers on my chin, but all in all a 2 pass almost BBS shave was the result.

Change of plans today. The Feather Super was just too much blade for me to use daily. Moved back to the Kai Mild today. Otherwise a great 3 pass shave.
