    Monday

    Prep: CeraVe facial cleanser
    Soap: HTGAM unscented
    Brush: Oscar11 custom boar
    Razor: iKon ShaveCraft
    Blade: Gillette SharpEdge
    After: cold rinse, CeraVe lotion

This brush was a generous gift from Steve Suko (Oscar11). Thank you, Steve! I don't have much experience with boar brushes, so I am looking forward to learning. I gave the brush several days of preparation by soaking, lathering, rinsing and drying. The piggy smell went away quickly and the fibers have started to bloom out nicely.

The HTGAM soap lathered easily, but I added too much water: the boar bristles hold more water than I am used to with synthetics.

Three smooth passes with the ShaveCraft razor have me an excellent result.

    Menthol Monday:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
Soap: Ginger's Garden Grass Stain Menthol Snow, face-lathered
    Razor: FaTip Piccolo
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG (3, 4)
Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Lucky Tiger Menthol Vanishing ASB

In the absence of a proper preshave balm or oil, I let the Neutrogena sit on my stubble for a few minutes in the shower, which really seemed to help further soften them up. Unfortunately, I left too much water in my brush for the first pass, so I really had to work to get the lather where I wanted it. End results were still a DFS+ shave in two passes, where the only bloodshed came as a result of hitting the same spots that had bled on Saturday, meaning I probably just reopened the cuts before they were fully healed.

Good to see you gave the Balm and T-Bomb a try. Did you leave the balm on your face when you applied your Stirling or did you rinse it off? I go back and forth on this but lately have been leaving it on.

I left it on and lathered over it. The shea butter content of the balm yields a nice slick surface upon which to lather. As with PSOs, once on, the balm(s) remain on for the duration.

    Prep: Shower
    Razor: GEM MMOC
    Blade: Treet
    Brush: Omega 10810
    Lather: Barrister and Mann Cheshire
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG
    Result: DFS

Scary! I dropped my MM from my sink. About a 3ft drop onto the hard ceramic floor it fell flat with a heavy thud. Ouch! I'm glad it wasn't pot metal. I'm not sure even a Super Speed would survive without a bend. But no it was completely intact. Other than that great shave.

I gave the Barrister and Mann another shot today with excellent results. The weakness seems to be its small window of latherability. It is very thirsty and if you don't mix it right it can end up thin with not enough water or airy with too much water. I also noticed I had to go back to the puck with each pass (face lathering)- which is not something that happens with Cella. The pluses are it's excellent performance. It is every bit as slick and cushioning as Arko. Post-shave feel was excellent and I found the soap moisturizing. I didn't like the scent at first. I thought it smelled like old lady but it is growing on me and feels very relaxing. It remained with me very subtly for nearly 3 hours.

The MMOC continues to impress. It is a very smooth shaver and it's aggressive reputation continues to puzzle me- I suspect a number of SE newbies tried to use it like a DE and not flat against the face how it is supposed to be used.

JRod22, how is that Plisson brush? There are some very good comments about it, but it looks mostly like 2nd or 3rd generation synthetic.
