I like the shape of that handle. I have a feeling that you could do a little two toned magic with a handle based on that shape!

German and French companies made several versions of Bakelite razors in the 1930s - 1950s. Maybe something will turn up on this.

If I recall correctly the corners on the safety bar are slightly more rounded as well. I haven't used mine in a while so I'll confirm as soon as I get back into town and get back with you.

It would be nice to find out who manufactured this fine razor. Have to admit shaves better than I thought it would and at first I was timid with it being so light but pretty sturdy little razor.

My face is so darned frozen that it'll take all day to thaw out after such an intense menthol bombardment - this Permafrost stick has become a vintage item because Giovanni, the owner of Tryphon Enterprises is no longer in the wetshaving business. This stick is so terrific - great lather with a nice frigid scent, a powerful menthol effect, and very skin-friendly. The Diana Sport balm and the good old Rubby Dubby Doo made the end of this awesome shave brrrrrrrrr cold and beautiful! ;) :D

Prep: Warm wash and homemade PSO
    Razor: Merkur 34HD
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (5)
    Lather: Stirling Coniferous
    Brush: Vie Long 13061
Post: Cold rinse and Captain's Choice Bay Rum

First use of the Vie-Long horse. I like it. I'm guessing it will break in. Sort of scritchy right now, but it does pick up the soap! 3 pass shave, no nicks, no weepers, no problems.

    Thursday:
hot shower w/Yardley Pomegranate Rose bar soap
    homemade PSO
    Gillette Knack 2 passes
    Treet DuraSharp (2)
    Omega boar
TOBS Grapefruit cream (sample) in a warm mug
    Thayer's unscented with aloe
    Old Spice original AS

Nice smooth shave with the Knack and another fine sample from TOBS. Seems to me you can't go wrong with a TOBS cream and with so many flavors to choose from you just need to decide which ones you like best.

    M&F Chief and homemade brush
Nice edge on the Bema and very comfortable shave. The Tiki shaving soap seems to be first rate in all regards. Great slick lather, great post shave skin feel. It's my first shave with it so my comments should be tempered at bit but my first impression is nothing but positive. I do believe the this M&F brush probably has the best knot I've ever used. This is a YMMV type of deal but it's close to perfection, IMO. I have a couple of homemade brushes that I consider to be excellent with a slightly different feel but if I was looking to purchase a factory made brush this is the one I'd be having. I don't really know if this brush should fall in the factory made category or custom but it's darn nice. Have a good one.

This was my first shave with my birth year razor, and I was not disappointed. The Van Der Hagen Luxury Shave Soap face lathered very well with the Parker black badger brush. I did two passes and touch ups on the neck with my new Gillette Super Speed with a Shark Super Stainless blade, and I got a near BBS shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and Aqua Velva Ice Blue after shave. What a nice shave! Now I look sharp, feel sharp, AND I BE SHARP!

SOTD Feb 27 -- Blade safari day 24

    Prep: hot shower
Razor: WW2 Gillette Khaki with ball end handle
    Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock Green (day 4)
    Brush: Vie-Long
    Soap: Col. Conk lime
    Passes: 2 (WTG, XTG)
    Post: none

You know it's going to be one of those days when you forget your post shave...
I brought the Col. Conk in for today shave, it's been awhile since I last used this soap. The lather could have been better and the soap seems to have lost it's scent. Neither of these stopped me from getting a nice close shave.
