Had to take a few days off. Tried out a new blade, Personna Labs, and they destroyed my face. Razor burn like I've never had before. It took a few days before I even wanted to shave.

PReshave - Hot Shower, Noxima Face wash
    Cream - Proraso Sandalwood
Brush - Ace Shaving 20mm Best
    Blade - Personna Lab
    Razor - 1952 SS
    A/S - ALum Block, Brut

Not as bad a shave as earlier with this blade. This is actually a new blade but it still gave me a small amount of razor burn. Other than that a DFS.

Dont tell anyone, but a 1941 Ranger Tech passed my way, so I had to take it for a spin.....
Its gone now, but my new to me B-1 SS just got here, so for the third day in a row, a different razor.

Prep: shower, RazoRock glycerine pre-shave soap, Proraso pre/post
    Razor: Merkur 37c
    Blade: Perma-sharp (1)
Brush: Frank Shaving faux agate 22mm
    Scuttle: "Estremoz" V2 Green
    Cream: Proraso blue
    Post: alum, jojoba oil
    Aftershave: Proraso lozione dopobarba

Perfect start to the day. I applied a bit too much of Proraso pre/post, but the menthol kick it gave was very nice indeed. Perma-sharp blade performed quite well.

    1955 Schick I2/Long's Drugs d-lost count, but a few...:)

    Acqua di Parma Colonia

Today I was having a razor crisis....I was looking at 'Fishcrow's' brilliant SOS photo of his Black-Tip SS and wanted to give my Black Tip Beauty a spin. Thought I would use a Personna Red, a never before tried blade that Stingraysrock sent me a pack of a few years ago...Then I think, I should try one of these blades in my Shavette. It would be a grand way to see what these blades are made of...Then I think, "Hmmmm...I've been saying I really wanted to take my 55 Schick Injector out for a leisurely spin, using my new found Shavette techniques and see how she does..." So I grabbed her aswell...

So I've got my 52 Super-Speed Black Tip, Sedef Shavette and a new/old pack of Personna Reds, and my '55 Schick Hydro-magic all beside the sink now looking up at me saying," ok genius...who's it going to be...":happy097: Schick won...

Well to sum it up...I'll para-phrase my opening to my first post using this Schick several years ago...I said that every now and then we have an experience shaving that is so profound it equals the discovery or rediscovery of TWS itself.....Well the Schick still delivers the goods that inspired that sentiment...:happy108:

I apoligize for it seems my propensity for verbosity knows no bounds...:happy102:

Could have just said..."Today's Shave Was GREAT!! HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYBODY !!"

Though the blade still isn't as sharp as I would like it to be, I always enjoy shaving with the Rolls. It's got a charm to it which I can't explain. It just makes me feel good. :)

This is crazy because originally I planned to use another cream, and I think I changed my mind six times before I finally decided on the Ice Mint. Anyway, I'm glad I selected this one - the scent is so nice, the lather is so rich, and the menthol blast is awesome. The Anherb conditioner and the Alt Innsbruck both freeze like the Arctic. The Goal blade is at the end, but it still gave me a fabulous shave. Now, hopefully I'll be able to find some more of them.

    Have a great weekend, folks! ;) :D

Thought I would experiment a little. Three new things tonight. Shave stick, razor and Ogalla - all first timers.

    Proraso pre
    Palmolive (Aus) shave stick
    Omega 37 boar
    GEM 1912 (small handle)
    GEM blade (6)
    Thayer's Medicated Superhazel
    Ogalla Bay Rum AS (sample)

The blade seemed passed it but maybe the problem was the lather. I had used the blade 5 times in another GEM 1912 (with a different handle and identical head) and enjoyed those shaves. While I did find it easy to shave away without concern, the cutting did not feel very effective. Blade felt smooth but not that sharp. 3-4 passes and not the BBS result I was expecting. I've heard of some SE aficionados using these blades 12-14 times. With my coarse stubble perhaps I won't get anywhere near that.

First use also, of a shave stick for me. I have a Speick stick packed to take away tomorrow on a short trip to Alice Springs, so I thought I would try out the Palmolive - picked up for a few dollars at the supermarket. Great old smell. Reminded me of a smell from my childhood. Did my old man use this?? It lathered up extremely well. This Aussie version is said to be different and inferior to the European one but it was still highly enjoyable. I did seem to have the lather a little dry. Razor got clogged up several times requiring me to pull the blade out to clear it. More water on the brush and face and all was hunky dory with pass 2 and 3.

The Ogalla Bay Rum was great. I received a sampler pack this week and was keen to try some out. Nice scent. Reminded me of vanilla or caramel, plus the obvious cloves. Not a scent for everyone but I certainly liked it.

    Near DFS in the end.

Great picture - by the way, is Faulding cream still available in Australia? I heard some good things about it. If you've tried it, how would you say it performs? :)

    Thursday/Friday/Saturday
    Mergress
Shark Super Chrome (Same blade all 3 days)
    Simpsons Duke 2 Best Badger
    TOBS Jermyn Street SC
    No A/S

    Couple of thoughts.
    1) The Progress has to be the most fantastic modern razor in existence IMO. This thing just feels amazing, set at 2.5 its smooth, solid weight and the Mergress mod just looks fantastic. It has indeed kicked my EJ/Bulldog combo to the backburner.
    2) Shark Super Chrome are light years ahead of their stainless blade brothers, and have instantly become my new favourite blade. The price is nothing to sneeze at either, I'll be ordering several hundred of these bad boys ASAP without any hesitation. No irritation, just clean, smooth shaves and longevity that exceeds my Feathers, Voskhods and perhaps even my Astras.

Have a good weekend everyone, I may be relieved here and back home later today for at least a few hours.

All the slant bar action lately made me decide to use my Merkur 39C HD. It is somewhat of a sheep in wolf's clothing. I would classify the razor as moderately aggressive. It is not hard to use at all. The Crystal blade seemed to be a good match and I got a nice shave. I really love my TOBS Sandalwood shave stick. Great lather, great scent and plenty of lubrication.

    Cheers, Lyndon

Another fine shave this morning. This past week every shave has been such a pleasant experience that I really look forward to my next shave experience.
It seems my rotation is narrowed down to the modern razors and assorted combo's. My vintage razors have taken a well earned retirement but are brought out every now and then for a day in the Sun so to speak. The new (to me) GT scuttle makes lathering with warm silky cream a pleasure to be enjoyed along with the velvet feeling of the Boar brush applying it. The finish with ASB and wonderfully scented ASL & Colognes leaves my face smooth and my spirits high. There is no comparison between a shave like this and a disposible and a can of goo! Enjoy your shaves Gentlemen!
