hey! just a quick question please. i'm a straight shaver, and am looking to get into the DE arena. I see you have an ej89, that is the one i am considering. What are your thoughts on the razor? and particular blades go well with it? as i said i'm comfortable with sharp objects on or around my face but any advice, thoughts, or pointers would be wonderful! thank ya

    Hi.

I love my EJDE89.It´s a very mild razor. The blades i used with the EJ so far, were Astra SP and Lada blades.I like the Astra but i LOVE the Lada in the EJ.It´s as sharp as a Feather blade but smooth and gentle. But that don´t mean that these blades work for you too because every person is different.:)I can only highly recommend the Lada blades.

You won´t have any problems with the EJDE89.It´s heavy enough to get a good feeling for the shave and it´s comfortable under the nose because the head of the razor isn´t that "big" or "fat" like for example the Merkur Futur. It´s definetly worth to give it a try.For my opinion you can´t go wrong with it.

    Buy it,try it,love it.:)

Give us Info about it...Sounds interesting.:)

    Greetings
    Thorsten

Away from home for a few days. Brought along some kit to try out as a travel set including my Merkur 33c classic which I purchased as my first DE razor 5 months ago. Its had little use overall as I moved to the 34c, 37c and occasional GEM 1912 for most of my shaves over the last few weeks.

    Proraso pre
    Duke 2 Best
    TOBS Shaving Shop SC
    Merkur 33c classic
    Gillette Yellow (2)
    Thayer's Medicated Superhazel
    Cade ASB

What a mild shaver the 33c is. I felt like I was back at shaving school. For some reason I was expecting the 33c to be similar to the 34c and was looking to make it my travel razor. Will need to rethink this. Probably will pass this one on to my teenage son.

3-4 passes and a good final result. I do need more cutting power though.

what does mild vs aggressive mean in terms of a razor, and what are some advantages/disadvantages to a mild or aggressive razor?

PS, its ordered and on the way with 80 blades, some new omega soap, and some taconic tequila lime creme i'm pumped!

Let me try to explain...:) There are different razors available. Some are more aggressive than others. The EJ is a mild one. This depends on the head of the razor and gap that it has.A Merkur 34C is a very mild razor too.The adjustable razors can be very mild too,but when you push things forward (on higher settings) then there is a chance to get more irritations or razor burn than with a lower setting. It´s try and error...;)What blades did you buy?!I don´t know the soap and the cream...perhaps someone has experience with it.

I hope you know what i mean.Otherwise some of the other friendly guys here could explain it a little better.:)
