    Shave Den Sunday!

Prep: Warm shower, Dove Men+Care face scrub
    Blade: Chinese Schick
Razor: Schick G1 Injector (late 1940s)
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
    Lather: TSD Lanolin Bay Rum
Post: Witch hazel splash, TSD Iced Bay Rum after shave, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, XTG, touch-up

Several things went on in this shave as I experimented a little bit and took my time since I wasn't rushed like I am on a weekday.

I loaded a new Chick blade into the injector. That didn't go quite as planned and had to figure out the loader, but I got it to go in correctly after a little finagling. That was my first time loading a new blade as my Injector experience isn't so deep. But the new blade was nice and sharp and very efficient.

I tried a cold water shave again today, the first time in a couple of months. The last cold water shave was frustrating because I couldn't get the soap to come off of the razor as I swished in the sink between strokes. But today's weather here is nice and warm and I decided to give it another try. Verdict.......I liked it!! My face feels great and the tender areas that can sometimes burn with after shave all feel pretty good. I'll have to try some more cold shaves to see if I'm a true convert.

My initial lather with the Satin Tip brush was too wet. I face lathered but it was just too wet and runny. So I washed off that first application, rinsed out the brush, and started over. I got a much better lather the second time. I then went in and reloaded some soap before applying for the second pass. That lather was even better. I just started off with too much water, but it all worked out in the end. I am thankful for the self discipline to wash off that first lather and start over.

The TSD Bay Rum soap and matching after shave are such quality products. I really enjoy using them.

All in all this was a nice, close shave. Two passes with touch-up and I would classify it as DFS. This was my best experience with the Schick injector to date.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

    SHAVE OF THE DAY

    PREP: MUSGO REAL ORANGE AMBER
    RAZOR: 1953 GILLETTE TECH
BLADE: RAPIRA SWEEDISH STEEL (2ND SHAVE)
    BRUSH: RAZOROCK PLISSOFT
    SOAP: HASLINGER SPA SANDALWOOD
POST: OSAGE RUB/ FINE L'ORANGE NOIR

3 Pass shave this morning. Did not get as close as I would have liked. I am still not sure if I like these blades, they give a lot of audio feedback, but don't seem as sharp or smooth as I am used to, but didn't get any irritation so I will have to experiment some more before coming to any conclusions. The Haslinger soap whipped up a santa beard lather, nice and slick and I like their presentation of sandalwood. The RR Plissoft has become my go-to brush. I like the bigger knot, and the handle has some weight to it. Highly recommended. Finished the shave with Fine L'Orange Noir, the scent lasts a long time which is great, so I use it like a cologne. Hope everyone has a great shave!

Flair Tips are beautiful machines. Could be why so many modern DE's copy the design & style. I had two, and passed one to my mom! Still can't get my father to use other than his generic plastic throw aways.

    Pso-Homemade mint oil
    Razor-Gillette Flair Tip Super Speed
    Blade-Feather (4)
    Brush-Omega S
    Soap- Arko
    Thayers Witch Hazel
    ASB-Nivea Sensitive

Another enjoyable shave tonight, I decided yesterday that I preferred a cold water shave and confirmed it tonight. It just feels better. I got one small nick around the corner of my mouth, alum to the rescue. This was caused by laziness, I had a heaping amount of lather in the bowl and instead of brushing some on I just made a quick pass to clean up. Lesson learned. Just 2 passes tonight, WTG and ATG for a DFS.

Scuttle: Steve Woodhead Ceramics, large Suribachi.
    Soap: NSS Citrus Zinger.
    Brush: Razorock 24mm Plissoft.
Razor: Ever Ready 1912 made in England.
    Blade: Gem (2).
Post: Brut musk ASL, Real Shaving Co. balm.

This English ER 1912 is noticeably more aggressive than my US model. I've tried it both with and without a shim and although the razor feels different in each case, it still feels quite aggressive to me and I have to be careful otherwise I gets the red-neck something awful. Next time I'll try it with the handle from my US 1912, which is a lot lighter and shorter, to see if that makes a difference.

A very enjoyable shave never-the-less, an extremely close 2.5 pass BBS. Marvellous. I'm really fond of these 1912 razors.

    Lazy Sunday shave.

New to me Schick Krona, which I was fortunate enough to be gifted during the TSD raffle. Thanks @Omaney !
    Gillette Silver Blue blade
Williams soap, with bay rum added
    Kent synthetic brush
Homemade witch hazel and EO aftershave

Attempted, but failed to upload pic to Picasa.

Was a nice shave. Not perfect, but first with this razor and first with GSB blades. Will repeat tomorrow. And most likely Tuesday. Was a three pass shave today, but will likely be two pass shaves during the week.

Hope everyone had a good shave today.

Amazing craftsmanship! Maybe some time in my life when I can take the time to learn the art of shaveing with a straight razor I will appreciate it more. My respect goes out to all of you who are using straight razors!

    3/06/16 - Arlington & JR Torrey!!

A very good 2 pass shave with this razor that was brought to life by Dillon at www.fretzwerks.com!!

This Torrey is an old American from the early 1900's I believe. JR's dad started making them in 1895. By 1960's the company went under. The classic "riches to rags" case. Just couldn't conform to the changing times.

An Excellent razor despite the sad closings!!!
