    DFS Contrast
I decided to use my MR10 this morning to provide a contrast to my old type. I still got a nice DFS after two passes and touch up, but it's not as close as with the open comb, but more comfortable. At first blush, I prefer the results from the old type. I think tomorrow I will try the old type head on my MR10 handle to see if the extra weight makes any difference.
The soap worked like a champ. I lathered the first pass in my hand, then painted it on my oiled face, to preserve the lather. The second pass was face lathered as usual, with a bit more dense lather, if that makes sense.
The Krampert's and Gondolier lotion work together nicely to leave my face moisturized and protected against the winter chill.

    Razor: Gem Clog Pruf SE.
    Brush: VDH Badger.
    Soap: Col. Conk Bay Rum.
    Mug: Antique white "Barber"
AS: My fav. Aqua Velva Ice Blue.
No preshave cond. dont need it with
    the Gem.
Col. Conk Bay Rum smelled good but
lather wasn't as thick as I like.
Lathered fine, just a bit airy for me.
    Slick and cusion were acceptable.
    The Gem cleanly removed whiskers
with a loud report on each pass.
Finished off with a splash of AV. BFS.
    Good day all. CAM00218.jpg

    Razor - Edwin Jagger DE89L
    Blade - Rapira Swedish Supersteel
Brush - Dovo 918052 Pure Badger
Shaving soap - Route One Pumpkins Lavender Cedarwood Shaving Soap
    Aftershave - Lea Aftershave Balsam

Some new products I have not tried before - the Rapira blade, the Route One Pumpkins shaving soap and the Lea aftershave. They work quite well together and leave my face feeling soooo good afterwards. The Route One soap and Lea aftershave both have great skincare properties, and together are outstanding. A nice smooth two pass shave today.

    Today's shave.
Prep : hot shower, Cremo Face Wash.
    Brush : Turkish #6 Brush.
    Razor : Gillette Aluminum Tech.
    Blade : Personna Med Prep.
    Cream : Noxzema Lather Cream.
Post : cold water rinse, Razorock XXX AS, Phyto Balm.

This shave made me feel pretty good after working for almost 11 hours. Sadly, this Noxzema cream is no longer made and is now a vintage item. I used it at the suggestion of the well known crackstar. I see why he loves it so much. My only gripe is that the lather isn't as cushioned as other stuff I use. The Razorock XXX AS burns like hell. It smells just like the soap and cooled down my face. I still needed extra care and the Phyto balm carried out the request.

    Prep: Hot shower
    Razor: Standard Razor
    Blade: Astra SP (2)
    Brush: The Jubilee
    Soap: Tiki Surfs Up
Post: Alum, AoS lemon ASB. (Trying to use up this balm, have a decent amount in stock, need to use them up so I can justify purchasing HTGAM cavendish to match my soap and deodorant combo on the weekends)

Another good shave out of the standard razor. 2 for 2. Tiki was good stuff, hard for me to jump to conclusions after one shave but it does seem to hold up to expectation. Dense, Slick, wet, good cushion, explosive lather. Jubilee is always a pleasure to use. Will be trying out Red Personna in this razor tomorrow.

Today I shaved with my Old Type head on my Maggard MR10 handle. It's not pretty, but it was very effective. I got a DFS in two easy passes. I also found that if I use pre-shave oil before my ATG pass, that pass is smoother and more comfortable. The added weight of the handle was pleasing in my hand, and all the products worked great together.

    Prep: Shea moisture TBS
    Soap: Synergy Meta Nectar
    Brush: HIS
Razor: Old Type head on a MR10 handle
    Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock yellow
Pre-shave oil: Synergy Coconut Bay Butter Balm
AS: Krampert's Finest Bay Rum, Synergy Gondolier lotion

    '62 Gillette Slim

    Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel
    FD Old Spice AS

Another mighty fine shave. I loaded up the Cella SC on the Frank Shaving Finest badger and took my time today face lathering. Then, I let it rest on my face for about a minute while I changed out my blade. Two passes and some touch ups on my neck with the Gillette Slim and Gillette 7 O'Clock blade left me smooth and clean. The whiskers came off with great ease. I finished off with a cold water rinse followed by Thayers Cucumber WH and Family Dollar Old Spice AS. I am clean and refreshed. Nice...

Back to the NEW SC for a bit. I used the LASS Woody Lavender. I loaded a new Personna Med Prep in the NEW SC. My shave was great: close, smooth, nick free. I finished off with some Barbon.

    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
Soap: Ginger's Garden Grass Stain Menthol Snow

    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (1, 2, 3)
Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Lucky Tiger Vanishing Menthol ASB

A 'love bite' on my cheek from my cat had kept me from shaving for a couple of days, and then I woke up this morning with a head cold. The head cold was my primary motivation for reaching for my Menthol Monday setup, as I knew the menthol would help clear my nose a bit. Three passes with a brand new blade produced a BBS result, but - as usual - I managed to get a weeper on my throat.

I'm really impressed with this Iced Cilantro soap from Mama Bear which I received this past Friday. It smells nice, it lathers very rich and creamy, and it has a GREAT cooling sensation. The skincare is pretty good as well - no complaints from me. The Anherb conditioner and the Aqua Velva felt so cold and nice after this wonderful shave! (no pics today, sorry!) ;) :D

    Prep: hot shower
    Razor: WW2 Gillette Khaki
Blade: Personna Med Prep (day 4)
    Brush: Vie-Long

    Passes: 2 (WTG, XTG)
    Post: Nivea Men cool kick

Four days with the personna med prep...

Today's shave was closer, but not nearly as close as the first two days. The Nivea Men Cool Kick called attention to a few areas that saw a bit too much touch up. Time for a fresh blade.
