Sorry for your loss Bruce. It was very hard to lose our Plato after fifteen great years.

Learning how to use pre-shave oil
Today I went for a three pass DFS, and got there easily with my Mag Type frankenrazor, synergy soap and pre-shave oil. I did not use it before my shave, though. I used the easily applied oil before my third pass (ATG), and I got no weepers or irritation of any kind. Waiting until the third pass also allowed me to build plenty of lather in the brush while face lathering, that I could simply paint on the lather for the last pass. So the lather and the oil were at their most effective at the time when I needed them to be.

Just a great shave, now to shovel my way to work.

    Prep: Shea Moisture TBS
Soap: Synergy Meta Nectar, Synergy Coconut Bay Butter Balm
    Brush: HIS
Razor: Mag Type (old type head on Maggard handle)
    Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock yellow
AS: Krampert's Finest Bay Rum, Synergy Gondolier Lotion

I finished off this tube of Arko Ice Mint cream but I still have some more in reserve, and I'm so happy about that. It's such a lovely cream with a great scent, awesome lather, and a strong menthol kick - in fact it's the only Arko cream which cools significantly. The Thayers witch hazel and the Alcolado Glacial made the end of this terrific shave so pleasurable! ;) :D

Bill, it's so nice to see you again after so long - how have you been?

    WEDNESDAY
    Early 4:30am Shave

Pre: Hot shower, Shea Moisture Facial Scrub, homemade PSO
Razor: Mühle R41 (2013) with Grande handle
    Blade: Feather Stainless
    Brush: Omega 48 Pro
    Lather: MEM Olive Cream; scuttle-warmed
    Shave: Two passes; minor touch-up
Post: Cold water rinse, Alum block, Nivea Sensitive Balm

Early start to a busy day and putting into play my brand new & 'tamer' R41 head.
I haven't used cream in some time & the MEM is ridiculously easy to generate a mountain of rich, slick lather.
Overall a quickly accomplished DFS! Now it's time for more hot black coffee!
    Happy Humpday, everyone!

    Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Bath Soap
    Soap: La Toja Cream
    Razor: Gillette NEW SC
    Blade: Personna Med Prep (2)
    Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip 22mm x 48mm
    Aftershave: Pino Silvestre

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

I really like the La Toja Stick. I found the La Toja Cream on sale for $6.99/150ml tube and decided to try it. It is one of the best creams I have used. It lathers easily and is thick providing great glide. Of course the NEW with the Med Prep helped give me a great shave today! I finished with Pino Silvestre.

    Prep: Warm shower, Cetaphil Lotion
    Razor: EJ DE89L
    Blade: Voskhod (2)
    Soap: Williams
    Brush: Semogue 830
    Post: Witch Hazel
    Aftershave: British Sterling

Near BBS this morning. I was in CVS last night and as I walked down the shaving isle, the box of Williams shave soap caught my eye. I've never used it before because of all of the negative reviews. Knowing that there are also a number of people who like Williams, I decided to pick up a puck and give it a try. The first thing I noticed was the light citronella scent, but I didn't find it offensive at all. I was able to work up a very nice lather in no time at all with very little effort. Maybe I just have good water, but I didn't have any of the lather-making problems that I've read about. I got a terrific shave using this soap.

    Have a great day!

    Rimei Three Piece
    Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless (2)
    CWR
    Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel
    Pinaud Clubman AS

This was my first shave with the RiMei razor. The Van Der Hagen Deluxe shave soap face lathered very well with the Semogue 1305 boar brush. Two passes and touch ups with the RiMei and a Gillette 7OC blade left me clean and smooth. This razor is very mild, but it did the job. A cold water rinse followed by Thayers Cucumber WH and Pinaud Clubman AS was a good finish to a fine shave. I like the handle on this razor, but the head may be too mild for my use.

SOTD Feb 5 -- Blade safari day 5

    Prep: hot shower
    Razor: WW2 Gillette Khaki
Blade: Personna Blue Lab (day 1)
    Brush: Vie-Long
    Soap: Proraso White tub
    Passes: 2 (WTG, XTG)
    Post: Nivea Men cool kick

Not a good start to the Personna Blue Lab, I was getting tugging right from the get go. I was able to get an OK shave with some ATG touch-ups. My face doesn't seem to get along with ATG however, so it was a bitter sweet shave.
