I've found that I'm finding my favorite soaps and realizing I don't like some as much. Arko is still great and gives a fine shave, the scent doesn't bother me either, I just feel like there are other soaps that I enjoy using. Arko just kind of works. Maybe I'm becoming a shaving snob and have been spoiled with too many higher end, higher quality soaps/creams. I guess I'm just kind of finding my go-to's so others seem lackluster.

    Brush: SOC
    Bowl: DB Bill
    Soap: MdC
    Razor: 89L w/ Bulldog handle
    Blade: Personna
    A/S: Proraso
    EdT: DR Harris Windsor

I've read a lot of reviews about DR Harris, and saw a lot of concern around the staying power. I'm not sure what the concern was. I put the EdT on this morning at 6:00 AM and it's now more than 12 hours later and I can still smell this great scent.

Man...too funny...Today I wanted to use my Shavette, even if only on my cheeks so I could compare how loud it sings to my Injector...BUT, I ended up doing 2 complete passes ecept for my bottom lip, and used the Injector for one light pass to check and see if I missed anything and pick up that bottom lip...

Well...ended up getting the cleanest smoothest shave of the week after those two passes....:happy108:The Schick clean-up pass didn't make a sound; so I know there were no missed whiskers; except for the bottom lip area which I purposely left for the Schick because thats my hardest area to get with the shavette...

Man...I might keep this up for a while....and as my shavette 'chops' get more solid, start working that bottom lip area...
BTW, the shavette made NO sound...The Injector is the Operatic King in my Shave-Cave...but the Shavette shave this morning has me thinking.....I really never expected this good, easy, even fun, and irritation free shave from my Shavette....at least not anytime soon...I really thought I would have to get a real Straight for this kind of shave...

So Compadres & Den-mates...don't discount the shavette....there are great shaves to be had; hidden away inside that learning curve...:happy093:

Yeah, I really love it. It is definitely one of my top 5 aftershave balms. It is very soothing and has excellent skin care. I like the scent a lot too! It reminds me of the aromatherapy oils of a good massage/spa. I believe there is a bit of menthol in it too but I haven't checked the list of ingredients yet.

    How do you find it?

    • Prep PSC
    • C&E Soap - Sienna
    • Semogue SOC Boar - New! :happy108:
    • Edwin Jagger DE89 Head with iKon Bulldog Handle
    • Croma Diamant Blade (1)
    • Sienna ASB
    • Alt Innsbruck ASL
I decided to jump on the Edwin-Jagger-DE89-head-plus-iKon-Bulldog-handle bandwagon. :D I found it to be a nice combination. I haven't really experimented very much with mixing and matching handles but I may do a bit more of this in the future. In fact, I was thinking it would be fun to pick a head, and then change out the handle every day for one week of shaves. This is the first time I tried the Croma Diamant blade. My first impression was that the blade was a bit similar to the Crystal brand.

The first few times I used the Sienna soap, I thought it wasn't very good. The truth is, I wasn't using enough soap or enough water. Today the new Semogue boar did a fine job of whipping up a nice lather. The Sienna ASB is amazingly thick. Almost like one of those body butters the ladies like. It has outstanding skincare properties and is very soothing and moisturizing. Not much needs to said about the Alt Innsbruck... it's top stuff!

    Cheers, Lyndon

Inspired by my dear friend Veli, I decided to use the SuperMax Menthol cream and I'm happy that I did - this stuff smells so nice, it gives such rich, creamy lather, and the cooling effect is awesome. How can I not love the 444 balsam and Alt Innsbruck aftershave - they're both so wonderful! ;) :D

Very comfortable and close shave. I did not use the brush in the pic. The mail man brought the 25mm H.I.S. yesterday so I used that instead. The H.I.S. is a piece of work, the knot's crooked and the loft is off (to high by 3mm according to their specs). It's not really a big deal to me because I just want the knot but if I wanted the whole brush I'd be pretty disappointed. Have a good one.

A very cheap shave this morning with a no frills supporting cast. The Sabi/Weber Bulldog combo has skyrocketed to the top of my fav list! Every time I use this rig I get the best shaves ever. The blade gap on the Sabi is perfect for my beard and the husky Bulldog handle gives a feeling of authority to this tool!
The Arko Shave Stick delivers a ton of lather and the Urinal Cake disinfectant scent tells me I am germ free. Really, after awhile you get used to it but, I can see why it is a turn-off to some. The Florida Water Cologne is a good coverup for any residual stench scent left from the Arko. lol

The Wilkinson Sword brush is not my favourite face latherer. It has less backbone than I would like and still the hair tips aren't soft.
