    Lyndon, sorry for mixing in, but the Barbon cream has no menthol at all in it. Somehow for some reason which I cannot figure out however, it seems to cool the skin anyway. It also seems to have ingredients in which appear to act like a form of local anesthesia to the face while you're shaving with it. After the shave I can hardly feel any sensation in my skin for hours.

    Hey thanks man. Yeah it's weird because I love and hate the army at the same time. But mostly it's a good thing and gives me a reason to shave.

    For this shave I wanted to try something I have not tried in a while, and after some pondering the choice was obvious, The Shave Dens lanolin Copal soap. I like the smell of this one, and lathers without any effort at all. But, and there is always a but, my face started to react within seconds after I applied it to my face. In the beginning it was just a slight tingling. But it escalated and I had to abort after two passes. Two excellent passes that still left me with a DFS.

    I do not know what is causing this. I have three TSD products and I react to all of them. One wheat cream in sandalwood and two lanolin soaps (Copal and Crackling Firewood). Perhaps these share some common ingredients, hopefully in the fragrance. That way I can purchase a different scent and still enjoy these soaps. I have also suspected the lanolin, but I have no problem using the MWF soap.

    On the upside, I had the pleasure of using a Personna Platinum blade for this shave. These blades were the first blade that gave me a negative reaction. This time however, I had a wonderful experience. It felt sharp, smooth and marvellous.

    * Shave
    • Pre-Shave: Hot Shower, Nivea Face Scrub
    • Razor: Merkur 180 Long Handle
    • Blade: Wilkinson Sword
    • Brush: Van Der Hagen Badger
    • Soap/Cream: Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood
    • Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG, XTG (opposite direction)
    • Post-Shave: Warm water rinse, Cold water rinse, Gillette Aftershave Lotion for Sensitive Skin
    • Blood report: 1 minor nick under the left ear lobe

    All in all, good shave. This is my first time using the TOBS cream. I love the sandalwood scent. The cream acts as an air freshener as I can still smell a hint of the aroma in the wash room. I used the Wilkinson blades from Walmart, under $2 for 10 and most folks arent fans, however I love them and as with everything here YMMV.

    Nice leisurely shave. Really took my time. I had to reload the brush a few times, though. The lather tended to be slightly thin. But I was awarded a real BBS.

    Have a great weekend!

    Tried the Lijun brush for the first time today. It was pretty good, but a bit of a lather hog. I was pleasantly surprised with the Lord blade as it performed reasonably well in the excellent Muhle head. Love the Baxters and the Figaro (home brew) is super cold.

    Cheer, Lyndon

    The best shave I've had all week so far (not as good as tomorrow!) because I was able to take my time and relax, so I could focus better. The Goal blade is holding up very well and it's even smoother than I had first thought. The Tibet Forest Fresh cream is from Bangladesh with crazy-rich lather, a nice scent, and it has a nice fresh and cooling sensation. Talking about cooling sensations, try a combination of the Anherb and the Rubba Dub Dub and you will be frozen all day! ;) :D
