    Finally back!
Thanks to Paulie sending me a beautiful care package that sure brought my spirits up this week when it got to me in the field, I ended up switching up my favourite soap and have a new one that I'm infatuated with, so here it goes! Again a big thanks to Paulie!

    Saturday
    Hot Shower
    Merkur 38C + Gillette 7 o'clock blue
    P.160 Tipo Morbido
Cold Water Rinse + Old Spice Classic A/S

Loving the P.160, I think I may have to try to weasel myself a 1kg block of this bad boy before ItalianBarber runs out of it, lathers so quickly and the scent is pure heaven. Wednesday evening when I was shaving everyone in the tent kept running into my area asking what smelled so good in there LOL. The Gillettes are outstandingly smooth blades as well, had a BBS shave in no time flat without any issues and it felt like my razor was empty for all 3 passes.

Would that be ink for a fountain pen or ink like in a new tattoo? If the latter, we need a pic.

Indeed the ink would be a new tattoo. I have the drawing, a fish climbing a tree... but, as it happens today, and as is all too true around these parts, and every tattoo shop I have ever been to; tattooists rarely are friendly and accomidating, not to mention available or helpful. In my experience, the three tattoos that I have, they all required months of waiting, and even once you have plunked down your $300 to $500 for your ink, well, the tattooist really would rather be anywhere other than in your skin. It really and truly is a love/hate/hate/don't want to love you relationship.

That reminds me I need to get my other sleeve done, but that will have to wait, so many expenses coming up with moving to a new unit, new appliances etc, and of course 9er Domestic wants brand new stainless steel stuff LOL. Oh well, she does so much I can't say no.

Well I'm shocked. You mean it's not like on those reality tattoo show. Everyone just loves to see you and find out your life story and it's all hugs and kisses when you leave.

Come pay me a visit in Wausau. We have two or three good shops that are open for business.

Danny: Today I shaved with a 1905 Gem LC with the same handle, but bottom half seems to be missing. Do the two halves of the handle screw together? Really liked it BTW. Sorry if off subject. Nice photo.

    madmedic Resistance Is Futile

I spent some time searching the forums last night....and constantly saw favourable reports from many gentlemen. However in general these seem to be ignored. OK there may be some QC issues....but now that I know they shave well...I would much prefer to buy them to teach myself to hone. They are inexpensive and have potential. and the vintage razors on ebay are all getting expensive and come with their own problems. I have actually ordered two other models.....the 66 and the 300. If I manage to hone them....great. If I don't.......I can put it down to my technique and I won't have wasted a lot of money.

Like everything if you are to get better at honing Brian there's no easy quick fix you must practice to make perfect, when I started honing myself, I would hone a razor almost everyday for weeks before I began to believe I was finally getting there, I would blunt several razors on purpose just to try out different razors, because they all behave different when you take them to the hone, and like everyone, the only real indication of sharpness test to any honer is the final HHT, that's what I aim for after the final strop, but I am also very particular about a even bevel when I use the first stone usually a 1000 stone, that's where 90% of the final sharpness will begin on that first stone, get it wrong there, and it's wrong on every other stone as you step up the chart. PS there are some very good honing video's out there, myself I really like Glen's AKA gssixguns video, I like his technique and methods I myself use a very simular method to Glen to sharpen my razors.

    Regards Jamie.

Sunday, last day of the week.

    Off day.

Prep: hot water rinse, hotwashing cloth
    Music: Vangelis, soundtrack of 'Alexander'
    Brush: WS badger/boar
    Soap: TSD signature
    Razor: Rolls
    3-pass shave

As I said: off day. The lather was way too thin and I it only dawned upon me after the second pass. Started a new lather, better this time, but the harm was done: couln't make another pass along the neck. So no great shave today and no great results. *shrug* Tomorrow's another day.

    Have a nice day y'all!
