    Martin,

I'm afraid the bars/combs may be bent down at the corners. I have a couple Senators and a Sheraton and one is tweeked enough to be damaged like yours seems to be. Just looking at the razor it doesn't look bad until you look very closely with a blade installed, you may be able to see the corners drooping.

That's a shame Martin but it could probably be straightened out by someone with some tools and talent. I would not suggest a Feather test! A straight shave-able Senator or Sheraton should be mild, as mild as a Ranger Tech or Super Speed.

  4. Hi Chris, and thanks for the info,

Starting with the last thing you said, this razor did NOT feel like a superspeed...heh. It was more of a fatboy set on about what 7-8 must feel like. I use #3, so you get the idea.

I think the teeth are ok, although I have a hard time seeing that stuff. I looked, even put a blade in the razor, but the thing seemed fine to me. Plus, there's two other things to mention. The razor's on loan to me, and the member has used these himself. I know he'd not send out something that didn't work well for him.

The other thing is I have a hard time with almost all the open comb types tried so far. Just a bit too much for my face as a rule, although I love the close shave. So I have a feeling it's me rather than the razor. I know the member (Island Brian) prefers an aggressive type, and this one probably works well for him. Chris? You really think it should feel like a superspeed eh? This one may have gone rogue..........heh.

    Well, I appreciate the help,
    Martin

I'm taking today off from shaving Martin, but I'll load up a Senator for tomorrows shave and post the results here. It has been awhile since I've used either of my open comb TTO's, but I remember thinking the Senator was even milder than a SS at the time.

  16. After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

    Shavemac 22mm silvertip
Brevete/Iridium (first time using this razor)
MWF ( I am so glad I finally bought this stuff)
    Lucky Tiger AS
Ava Luxe 'Shisa' EdP (supposed to smell like the flavored tobaccos used in hookahs)...nice stuff actually.

I finally got around to trying this Brevete, after buying the silly thing many months ago. Heh, I purchased it cause it was just beautiful, and it came with a nice wood case with 2 blade holders. Yeah, I never actually thought I'd be shaving with it.........too nice of condition to use was one reason. Oh, another reason was the very wide gap between the bar and blade......... that kinda spooked me a little.

My shave this morning was such a pleasant surprise....I'm still kinda shocked. I was fully prepared to be typing about another hideous flesh ripping experience, but that wasn't the case at all. Instead, I found a little gem for my change up from the usual fatboy of choice.

The thing gave me as close a shave as the open combs I've been trying. That's pretty impressive by itself, but it gets better. Although I can feel the blade a little more than I'd like, it's not an uncomfortable feeling. It seems like maybe the head is designed to help protect against the blade digging in too deep, sorta like the fatboy. It looks totally different from any other head I've ever used. Much thinner than gillettes, and completely different profile.

I also like the weight distribution quite a bit more than I figured. Turns out the heavy handle on this razor works well for me, unlike other razors with balance like that. Hehehe, imagine me spontaneously faceturbating as I type.........

Anyway, I wanted to try some new razors, and Brian was nice enough to send out a few. Heh, after yesterday's experience with the Sheraton he'd included in the paackage, I figured the Brevete couldn't be much harsher. This thing is a kick!!

Not even one tiny little bit of red in my lather during my 4+ passes, and my face feels great afterwards. Not too bad an experience, since I gotta shave anyway......heh.
