Post-shave commentary: Test driving the revered ABC soap to commemorate the arrival of a Charcoal Goods Stinger V2 handle with the proven combo of Wolfman Guerrilla SS and Personna Platinum. With the recent Ah'ha starting ATG on the face got near one pass BBS, had to go back under the chin; will continue to experiment there to see if I can refine technique to get 1 pass BBS. Regarding the soap, great performer in nearly all respects, smells nice in tub, lathers great and quickly, good cushion and glide, post shave feel is clean, only comment is the post shave smell is negligible, great if you don't want to worry about finding an almond fragrance to compliment, but perhaps a sigh if you love strong smelling soaps that hang and enjoy the scent. I'm happy the soap is subtle in this instance.

    Cold Water Wash
    Arko
    Jayaruh #340
    Joseph Elliot Wedge 6/8
    CWR
    Pinaud Special Reserve

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Arko Shaving Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #340 badger brush. I did two passes with the Joseph Elliot Wedge 6/8 straight and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Pinaud Special Reserve AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Thank you Gents. My only Thater. Form factor-wise the handle is smaller than most of my others but it feels just fine in hand and the knot's a winner.

    Soap- Arko Stick

    hybrid shave
    sink of cool water
    shavette w/2 use Derby blade
    Gillette Superspeed w/2 use blade
    face wash x2
    Barbasol Face and Body lotion
    Gillette Cool Wave a/s

Face wash with cool water and an application of Barbasol Lotion as a shave lotion.Did 2 passes with the shavette and was not happy with the feel so I switched over to the Super speed for the final pass and ended up with an almost BBS shave. The Barbasol lotion is an item I picked up at Big Lots for a buck, smells like the cream and is of medium consistency and states can be used after a shave. So I switched it up and decided to use it for the shave.Glad I did ,almost 11 hrs later and I have a dfs still going on.I followed up with Cool Wave a/s that I can still catch whiffs of.

    January - Shavettes and Jeeves!

    January 25

    Razor - Magic Shavette
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Soap - Jeeves Bay Rum
    Brush - Stirling 24mm Badger
    Post - Alum

One more shavette in my arsenal to bring out. The Magic is about as simple as a shavette gets. Plastic handle, light aluminum blade holder, nothing fancy but it gets the job done. I've used it a few times and thought now would be a good time to bring it out to match the theme and give it a comparison shave after the Parker and Luxor. From two stainless razors to a plastic/aluminum. A bit of a change. I chose the Perma-Sharp half blade and the Jeeves Bay Rum with Stirling badger brush. Fine and luxurious lather and it was fun to work with a badger again after so many synthetics.

If you can shave with any shavette you would probably love this one. It's simple. Plain Jane. Basic. Gets the job done. I did two passes and some touch up to get a very near BBS out of it. The alum was mostly quiet except for a spot or two around my goatee where I got a little too close to the corner on the blade. No blood though so a good finish. I'm thinking if I were to decide to switch to shavettes as my main or only style razor I could see myself with the Parker and Luxor in rotation and the Magic as my travel razor.

Well, my plan for tomorrow night is to finally get the new kamisori out with its brand new edge from Lynn on it and give it a shot. I'll be watching some stropping videos again just to work out some things in my mind but I'm ready to take the plunge for real. A kami really isn't a shavette, but it's the same principal so I'll claim it's on theme. Have a great weekend!
