Very late shaves of the month post.

I apologize for the late shaves of the month post for December 2020.

December was all about using more of my international shave soaps, featuring one of my new Yaqi brushes the marble handled synthetic with a "plissoft" knot. I recently got another Yaqi brush, the sagrada familia straight from Yaqi South Africa, and a review on that brush as well as the bundubeard "mystery" soap will be released later this month.

Spoiler alert, I'm absolutely loving both products, it's really amazing how two excellent synthetic brushes can perform equally well while having different properties, but I'll get into that in the review later this month.

I must say i really enjoyed the Proraso this month even though i usually prefer tallow based soaps like the pipe smoke and Rooi Afrikaaner.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much of a difference the new synthetic made with the proraso, it was like using a completely different soap performance wise. I guess I'll have to go back and try some of the soaps i struggled to get good performance out of and test them with the synthetic brushes.

    Shaves 1-5:
Razor: Gillette aristocrat barber pole handle
Brush: Yaqi marble handled synthetic (24mm)
Blade: Gillette 7 o clock sharp edge (1-5)
    Soap: Uncle Jon's pipe smoke
    Aftershave: old spice wolfthorn

    Shaves 6-10:
Razor: Gillette aristocrat barber pole handle
Brush: Yaqi marble handled synthetic (24mm)
Blade: Gillette 7 o clock sharp edge (6-10)
    Soap: Proraso Sapone
    Aftershave: old spice wolfthorn

    Shaves 11-15:
Razor: Gillette aristocrat barber pole handle
Brush: Yaqi marble handled synthetic (24mm)
Blade: Gillette 7 o clock sharp edge (11-15)
    Soap: Bundubeard Rooi Afrikaaner
    Aftershave: old spice wolfthorn[IMG][IMG][IMG]

2021 is trying hard to ingratiate itself with the users: yesterday it rained washing the snow off the yard and today there is a nice fog.
It's also true that it can't effectively oppose the sun that is trying to illuminate these flat lands, but the year is young and it still has to make its bones...

I've been listening to the news on TV and I must make amends for my rare and veiled criticism of our politicians and recognize that they have a social conscience: they are truly committed to recycling!
Recycling themselves, it's true. But it's always a start....

When I shaved there was a saudade atmosphere very suitable for Chet Baker and that was the first choice made.
The trumpet guided me among soaps and the Valobra which, with its albionic fragrance, inspired me immediately.
The texture of the soap and the diameter of the bowl made me choose a British brush that maintains an excellent backbone and has the right size.

A sense of economy, not unrelated to the desire to free up some inventory, made me decide to insert a long unused Russian component: a blade that I liked at the beginning of the addiction and it turned out to be a winning option even though I sensed a difference between the two edges of the blade.

The aftershave balm, also excellent in scent, prepared my skin for a a cloud of cologne that is among my favorites.

I lasciviously indulged in a gluttonous brunch before getting down to business for you.

PS. The photo is not crooked: it's an effect induced by the earth's rotation.

    Sunday morning:

    Stirling Mentholated Pre Shave Soap
    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/Minora day 9
    Stirling Frozen Tundra SS
    Prep ASB
    Alt Innsbruck AS Splash

This Frozen Tundra is the second coldest soap from Stirling after the insanely frigid Glacials - this baby has a beautiful scent which is a blend of peppermint, wintergreen, menthol, and outdoorsy notes, the lather works up so easily, it becomes so rich, it’s so slick, the menthol sensation hits you hard especially during the second and third passes not to mention how great the skincare is. All of these Stirling soaps by the way are tallow based. I really enjoyed my massage with the Prep, and the Alt Innsbruck smells so lovely - not only that, it gives a great menthol punch. Day number nine for the Minora blade and it helped to give me another perfect BBS shave!

Have a nice Sunday - be well and safe!
