Thanks. I just got around to staining and adding clear coat. I have been wanting to find a fougere soap to put in it, but havent decided and since i had this soap in tupperware i decided for now to use it until i decide on a fougere soap.

The Shannon's Soaps Indigo Oud Shave Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #313 Two-band Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Treet SE Razor with a Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pinaud Classic Vanilla AS. There has been so much discussion about Arko that I just had to try it. As my custom title suggests, I pretty much stick with unscented soaps because most fragrances irritate my face. But I decided I would give this one a try in the name of science!

Impressions:

Wow! that's a strong smell! My first impression was that Arko reminds me of the smell when I walk down the aisle of janitorial cleaning products at the Home Depot store. Not a bad smell, just strong and industrial. My wife's impression of the smell was that it is just a strong, clean, soapy smell.

The soap face-lathered easily and gave a decent lather without much effort. The fragrance when lathered was different from the smell of the soap itself. Not unpleasant, just strong like cleaning products.

Quality of the lather was pretty good, but not as good as my favorite soaps, Sterling on the tallow side or Sudsy Soapery on the veggie side. Cushion and glide were decent, but not the best. Post shave was decent, but not the best.

My face seems OK so far. By comparison, when I tried Tabac, red spots appeared on my face after each shave. I don't think I will push my luck by using this soap frequently.

Overall, not bad, but I would like it better if the fragrance was significantly lighter.

By comparison, I actually like the light soapy fragrance of Williams soap and it doesn't bother my face. I just wish the William's lather lasted longer. I feel like I cheat a bit when I use Williams because I add a small pump of Kiss My Face cream to the mix -- that produces an excellent, long-lasting lather with the William's slickness and light fragrance.

Nice shave brother!

With Arko it’s either you love the scent or you hate it. I personally love it but I gave my brother-in-law a stick of Arko and he says it reeks although he says the lather and skincare are great!

Every time I use this Vintage Spice soap and aftershave I love them more and more. They both smell EXACTLY like the original Shulton Old Spice which should’ve never been discontinued. The soap’s tallow formula promotes such thick, rich, mega slick lather, and the skincare is absolutely perfect. The Bull Dog moisturizer works so well as a balm, and the Vintage Spice aftershave has the same gorgeous scent as the Shulton Old Spice aftershave - not only that, it lasts all day and because it’s witch hazel based there’s NO stinging or burning sensation - leave it to Fernando to come up with treasures like these. What a cracker of a shave this was!

Good accurate review, I use it once in a while myself. I started this soap early when traditional wet shaving I like to take this me when I travel. Insects are scared of it is my conclusion!

Good review, I use my Arko every once in a while, when travelling works well, insects are scared of it IMO.

SE SOTD, Fri, Jan 21st 2022

Razor: Yaqi V2 Excalibur AC 50mm, Mfg 2021> great blade clamping design, tame mid range, carefree shaving mostly, I receive good results mostly regardless of blade or soaps. I work over a wash cloth because of small razor head parts because of big fingers. V2 Top cap needs to be adjusted manually to safety bar edge for final alignment because of issues with V1! no Biggy!
Blade: Feather AC Pro 50mm, sharp & smooth with reasonable longevity, this blade works well with this razor IMO.
Soap: Cyril R Salter Indian sandal wood cream, excellent sandal wood scent with excellent lather qualities. nice scent & cream.
Brush: Yaqi mysterious space 24mm timber wolf whiskers, excellent lather generator, heavenly cloud like soft tips, gentle scrub + excellent painter.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the cleaned beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups.
Post shave: Witch hazel cleanse with Ogallala Bayrum with sandal wood + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion + scentless.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers = excellent shave with my Yaqi V2 Excalibur with a Feather AC pro 50mm.
