Would you guys believe that this De Vergulde Hand is over 450 years old? It’s made in Holland so obviously the company is doing something right if it’s around this long. The scent of this soap is so old school European the way I love it, it’s a pleasure to lather, and it leaves my skin feeling comfortable. The Nip Man balm has a beautiful minty scent, and is it ever moisturizing and soothing, while the De Vergulde Hand aftershave stung a little for a second but then it felt great. Another picture perfect BBS shave!

Super shave this morning, using a favorite safety razor and fragrance. Most of the razor is in excellent condition, but the top cap showing it's 80+ years. It'll finally be sent off today for a replate, the original thin plating showing the brass (?) underneath, peeling along the one of blade clamping edges.

 

I always though that the Dutch were way ahead of their time, Jeff.

Thanks Joseph! I chose a very unflattering angle on the FH top cap this morning. One of the fun aspects of photography.

FWIW....Paul, it's wifey approved in this household. It is a medicinal side (alcohol forward) version of vanilla, but it's a good 'clean' vanilla fragrance for the $.

 

This was my first shave with the Shick adjustable that was so generously gifted by @americanshamrock in his "Let's Make a Deal" game. It was an excellent shave. My experience with injectors has been mixed in the past, often feeling harsh on my face. I decided to start the adjustable on the mildest setting of 1. It was great: comfortable and plenty close enough for me!
