Here my Shave of the Day (08.01.2025)


Razor: Rockwell 6S // Blade: Gillette Bleue Extra (16) // Soap: Soap Commander Honor // Brush: Semogue 2015 HD // Aftershave: Witch Hazel - Fine American Blend

A great shave. The blade in it´s 16th use felt smooth and gentle as ever, but it is missing a little thoroughness. But no problem. I did 3 passes plus touch ups instead of 2,5 as always.

The soap performed outstanding as well. Glide, cushion, scent…top soap. Lathered up in my Fine Bowl and the Brush was a matching partner to the soap. This 2015 HD is a great little fella, you can throw every soap or cream at him, he creates lather out of it. With ease.

After rinsing my face, Witch Hazel was applied and after that the wonderful smelling Fine American Blend. Good combo with the soap.

All in all a 10 out of 10

The Williams Mug Shave Soap lathered well with Semogue Excelsior 1305 Boar Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Cobra Classic razor and the Feather Artist Club Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Pinaud Citrus Musk EDC. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

DE SOTD, Wednesday, January 8th 2025

Razor : Yaqi Mellon head 316SSP with a Yaqi Chippendale 316 SSP handle. Mfg 2023>, mid range. Excellent design, machining and of course the finish. I really enjoy using this razor design from the 1930's-40s. Audio feedback turns my crank also.
Blade : GSB(5) sharp and smoooth with reasonable longevity.
Soap : Yaqi Black Pearl, I enjoy this soap for scent and lathering + has excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Ferrari" 24mm Boar bristle knot. Excellent buy years ago on a defective knot that did shed a lot at first but it has been good after that episode ceased .
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Yaqi Black Pearl splash with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= Had a close comfortable stellar shave this morning with my Yaqi Mellon 316 SSP razor with a GSB blade. I always look forward to this shave with the Mellon razor.
