Only a hopeless menthol addict like me can use a set-up like this when the weather outside is so bitterly cold - the Gada Cool Mint cream is frigid with awesome lather and skincare, the Diana Sport balsam can be too much for somebody who cannot tolerate intense menthol, and the Rubski Dubski can freeze your face off. I really enjoyed this shave a lot! ;) :D

Shave of the Day (SOTD) Friday January 25, 2013
    [IMG]
Prep: Brush soaked in cold water, tepid shower, face washed with Dial Soap
Razor: Matador Capa Dorada Open Comb
    Blade: SuperMax Super Platinum (2)
Brush: GDCarrington Maple Apple Brush set with Ace Shaving 22mm High Density Silvertip
Soap: Taylor of Old Bond Street Avocado
AS: Mennen Skin Bracer Original with added menthol
Post: Cold Water Rinse, double splash of aftershave

Another sample of TOBS from my buddy Todd, wow this stuff is nice. The TOBS Avocado does not smell anything like avocado, more like fresh cut green grass with notes of lime and floral. Like the other TOBS I have tried this has no problems building a luxurious lather even with the moderately hard Lake Michigan water my village uses (127 mg/l for you hard water nerds).

First use of the SuperMax SP in the Matador Open Comb, which was never nice, much better than some of the other blades that I have used in it, This will become my go to blade for this razor. Two full passes along with a few touch-ups and some light buffing on my neck provided a BBS.

Very nice way to end the work week, as the shave was fairly quick and the results where excellent.

And it shaves really good, I haven't used a DE for months. Not long ago someone posted that it almost feels like cheating to shave with an injector. And that's exactly how I feel about them. Effortless, smooth, close, great engineering. They are just great.
    Did I mention I like 'm alot? :)

    Merkur 34c
    Super Iridium Blade
    Frank Shaving Chubby Badger
    L'Occitane Cade Soap
    Proraso Aftershave Lotion
    L'Occitane Cade Aftershave Balm
    Proraso Styptic Gel

Still trying out the SI blade, this time in the Merkur 34c razor. Apparently the blade heard my "complaint" from last posting and took its revenge. My chin was basically Mauled, but I will live to shave another day. (knock on wood)

The L'Occitane shave soap used to be a personal favourite of mine, but lately I have had some trouble creating a decent piece of lather from this soap. It is closer to a thick foam than lather. It is stil shaveable, but not as pleasant as it could be. Perhaps I should do a Monkeylord and practise making lather for the fun of it.

Proraso's aftershave is the only workable aftershave lotion for me. A nice clean lotion that soothes and calmes the skin, while also giving me a good wholesome sting.
The scent is pleasant, but not perfumed and it does not linger. I wouldn't mind a few other lotions like that.

    That's all folks.

I must to admit the Godrej Menthol cream is almost competition for Palmolive Menthol. To me they are around equal in the freezing. I have a tube of it which is also about half-empty so I use it only sometimes.

BBS. I hadn't used one of these blades in awhile - I'm use them very sparingly - but they are truly a classic. Quite sharp and super smooth - the smoothest shave I've had in a while, in fact.

Ah, Ingram from the UK, yes. I have the Egyptian version of Ingram which can out-freeze the UK one easily. Same nice scent, but even better lather and skincare, a better consistency, however it comes in a smaller tube. Here's what it looks like: :)

I shaved last night, but got bored during the day while doing school work so I decided to give my straight razor a go for the first time while my whiskers were short. I just tried shaving my checks and upper lip for a little while. Not cuts, no irritation  . Successful first try, and since my face was feeling good and I had a bunch of lather left over, I took out my trusty safety razor and did 2 passes giving me a DFS. First time I've tried a second XTG pass in a couple weeks. Felt good!:shaver
