A packed afternoon before starting Night Duty so I didn't have time for my usual Straight shave. I pulled out the slant for the first time in absolutely ages. The 'no pressure' which is essential with the Artist Club transferred across to the DE and I had a three pass BBS. To be honest I probably had the BBS after two, but I went ahead with the third just to 'be sure to be sure' !

DFS. Retiring the Bolzano with full honours and letting it fade into the sunset. Heading into the field starting Monday so I'm going to get back into my 38C for now, since it works well with quick dirty shaves, etc.

 

Do you rotate your straights on a weekly basis? I just found that I like that way better then 'new razor every day'. That's a nice looking Henckels you have!

Surf fishing this PM, hot shower to get the salt and fish smell off. Gave my 1912 a rest and stuck a 7 O'clock in my old 66 TTO, set at 8. Tried some Holistic hippie organic vegan tea soap I picked up in town. It sucked! It seemed to lather OK, then went flat in about 2 seconds blahhhhhh!!! TSD to the rescue LOL!!! Used my new light touch perfected with the Gem and applied to the slim. Great shave! Three pass and a little touch up, DFS++ smooth and no blood, or irritation, ahhhhh!!!!. Then a tasty fish sandwich, now for a whiskey sour and relax. Not a bad day to repeat a few times.

Call me O.C Wein

I worked until the wee hours last night, and woke up minutes before a 730 meeting. I didn't have time to do much of anything, so I ran out, and worked with no shave. I didn't want to wait till tomorrow, so I hoped in the shower after work and decided to test my Merkur 11 C (O.C. Wein) on 36 hours of German/Russian Stubble. With a fresh Gillette Yellow loaded, I got to work.

The 11 C had no issues at all with the shave, and using a yellow worked great.

It was a nice smooth three pass shave, and I did two touch ups to get BBS.

This razor has been a revelation.

Did 3 passes and got a DFS. I was actually going to skip this evenings shave but SWMBO caught me faceturbating while reading a book. The more I bated, the more I knew that I had to shave, NOW. Splashed on some Clubman A/S (man, I swear that stuff smells like Brut) and can finally relax.

 

Asd, thanks. Yes, I try to do a razor and soap for a week. It usually works with the razor but I'm seldom able to stick with a soap for a week. I max out around day 4 usually.

 

Hahahaha you better bet im on the shave train tomorrow!! Tomorrow shall be an Arko day! And probably a straight as well they have been getting neglected the past 2 weeks or so. If I havnt ruined the edges that is by my stropping...last time my razor was tugging so I think I may have rolled the edges of both my straights.....if I have thats a bummer!

 

Oscar11, how many shaves you can count in between touch-up with your razors? I mean can you shave all week long and then lap an edge a little on the barber's hone on weekends? And how large is your current razor rotation?

 

How do you like that No.9 AS?

 

I would say it is one of the better Bay Rums on the market...IMHYO
I have tried the Ogallala, Booster, Dominica, Superior 70 and Clubman.
Here are amy piks from favorite to least favorite.
1-Clubman. 2-Hawleywood. 3-Superior70. 4-Dominica. 5-Booster. 6-Ogallala
There are a few more out there I would like to try, The Clubman seems to hold its scent the longest.
Again, just my IMHO...YMMV
