I'm liking the brush very much Dale, its performance and build quality are really remarkable for a sub $20.00 brush.

Bill, how strong is the Lea Menthol cream? Is it anything like Italian Palmolive Menthol?

Had a late afternoon shave today because I was lazy.

    Proraso Pre/Post Cream
    Merkur 38C + Astra SP
    Omega Mighty Midget
    Palmolive Menthol
Cold Water Rinse + Old Spice Classic A/S

BBS. This afternoon was probably the best shave I've ever had. Lather literally exploded off my brush, shave felt effortless and smooth as could possibly be, no hints of blood just pure comfort.

This Saturday I found suddenly that all of my straights needs needs some honing job. Being too lazy to hone then during the week played a bad trick to me. But anyway, I have a great combo for the rescue!
OCMM/Ted Pella Gem PTFE (thank you very much, Dale! OCMM is a winner!)
    Vie-Long horsehair brush
    Ceramic bowl
    Tabac soap (top product, indeed!)

Pleasant BBS and no aftershave needed! I don't know why but I just don't want to put on any aftershave after Tabac shave. The Saturday evening was all about honing session ;)

It has a nice chilly bite to it, not quite as strong as the Italian Palmolive, but I really like the scent and enjoy the cream very much.

Can't help but think, that is so much more than a homemade brush.

Sunday Feb 5th - I'm really starting to love Sunday mornings ..

tunes - Mike Ness, Cheating At Solitaire
pre - hot shower, soak brush/mug
    prep - TBS shave oil
    cream - C&E Nomad
brush - Kent VS30 (brand new)
    razor - Merkur HD 34C
blade - Astra SP (1st shave)
post - cold water rinse, C&E Nomad AS

2 pass WTG/XTG, 1/2 DFS lol, as I'm still trying to figure out how to shave my neck. First shave with my new Kent brush - it's pretty stiff and I had a tougher time lathering with it compared to my TBS synth. We'll see how it breaks in. Astra blade seems nice. I've been soaking my brush in my soap mug that has a puck of Williams in it, and I've been 'priming' my brush with a bit of soap before lathering the cream ... I'm not sure if this is helping or hindering; I guess I'll have to experiment some more.

Heading to a local Nostalia sale & show - hopefully I can find some cool shave stuff :)

Spent the day shopping in Orlando and was too tuckered out last night to post my shave. Shocking, I know. I did end up with a new outfit for work and THREE pairs of shoes. It was a good day! ;)

Now, we are off to the flea market to scout out some rolly chairs.

    Have a fantastic Sunday!

Oh, sweet nostalgia - I had so much fun and enjoyment while I was shaving this morning with the Noxzema cream, which is my absolute #1 favorite of ALL creams. The scent is so old-school and nice, the lather is a delight, and the menthol effect and skincare are great. It's such a pity that this wonderful stuff was discontinued. The Burt's Bees Bay Rum balsam brought back nice memories of my younger days! ;) :D

    Sunday, February 5, 2012 - GEMruary!
    1. Prep: Hot shower; Yardley bath bar; Rise Gel
    2. Coffee: Locally roasted Panamanian w/ cream
    3. Lather: Provence Sante Green Tea - face lather
    4. Brush: Frank Shaving Finest
    5. Razor: Gem OCMM
    6. Blade: TP Gem PTFE (3); 3 passes
    7. Post: Cold water rinse; Osage Rub + Kiehl's Balm
Happy GEMruary! A month of the Gems with the 27th being the centennial of the 1912 patent. Started experimenting with the Rise shave gel as a preshave. It worked perfectly. Add the slickness that I like underneath any other lather & allows me to get a very close shave without any tug & pull & thus no irritation, cuts, or weepers. Oh yeah, & it's only $1 at Dollar Tree!

Shave Rating - Splendidly Sublime! A definite Single Blader! God Bless!
