I have a 53 tech...absolutely love it. Try the VDH razor again in a few months. You will be pleasantly surprised with it. The VDH is a modern take on a flare tip SS, when you are more experienced, you may find it is better than you remember! Glad you love the tech!

    Razor
: 1958 (D4) "Black Handle Super Fat Boy"
    Blade
: SuperMax Platinum (new to me)
    Brush: Semogue 1520
    Soap: Proraso Green
    AS: Barbasol Pacific Rush

Used my custom plated '58 Fat Boy today for the first time since cleanup and replate. I soon remembered why I like this razor, it's easy to use and smooth. I just like the weight, size and feel in my hand. I like my other razors, but this has the best of everything.

First WTG pass on 7 started the process. 2nd pass on 4 and a final "cleanup", also on 4. That "baby's butt" was nice and smooth. No nicks, no weepers, no runs, no hits, no errors only a happy face!

    Saturdays shave

After a week of using SE razors I went back to a DE. I tried a Gillette Rubie which was kindly sent to me by tuxxdk.
It felt a little rough, but still gave a good shave. It might be the type of blade that is better on day 2 so I am looking forward to tomorrow.

    Razor De 89
    Blade Gillette Rubie
    Brush L'occitane Plisson Synthetic
Lather - Soap Commander - Courage
    Aftershave - Nivea moisturising balm

I have some good sized containers with lid but they are not 100% air tight plus they are a little high.

I'm on the lookout for some airtight containers with lid that has a good width and height =D kind of like The body shop maca root cream.

Guy, you are too kind, my friend! You just need to go outdoors and shoot and, then, do a bit of editing. Nothing more. Try it and you'll see! :)

Razor Reveal Week - DAY 4

Oh Man...this razor is sweet! The GEM Featherweight in Gold provided a fantastic shave today. There is a method to their madness, because the unique shape and contours provided perfect grip positions for all 3 passes. I loaded a fresh GEM stainless blade, and just kept telling myself wow...lol.

The brush is full of Latha (Thanks Chuck), and I think this would be the perfect soap for a review group. The performance is undeniably good, but the scent is one that I think will stir the pot a little bit. I think it smells like a familiar old aftershave, but I can't pinpoint which one. It has an old time, classic barbershop type feel with a hint of musk, but I'm not sure it's for everyone. The lather itself is crazy good, and the value is perfect for the more frugal shaving budgets. I would highly recommend this one, and will be picking up the matching aftershave as well.

Overall this was an awesome shave, and I can't stop touching my face...super smooth this Saturday.

Enjoy your weekend Gents...and those playoffs are going to be fun to watch.

Latha is pretty great, I'm glad you're enjoying it. Note the aftershave, though intended to be the same scent, it comes across as quite a bit more floral to me.

Well that's good to know. I'm not a fan of floral, so I wonder if I should pump the brakes on that one. Is it more of a initial floral with a nicer dry down? Or does the floral stick around the whole time?

Ah, hard for me to say, it's not terribly long lasting. I'm less a fan of it than the soap's scent. But the performance is good.
