No I've been using this MB Iced version of her Czar's Choice about 16-17 months. I have only tried her Awakens and Iced Czars Choice (Cilantro/Lime) and maybe it was the batch I tried of Awakenings but Iced Lime Cilantro is colder on my face than Awakenings, besides it smells awesome to me. In two years of getting back into wet shaving, this Iced Cilantro Lime is the only full puck of shave soap that I have finished and have re-ordered. As long as she keeps making it I will continue to purchase, just that good for me.

So I figured out I got the van der hagen deluxe set with a "pure badger brush".
As the set was approx. 35 dollars, I don't know what quality the brush really is.
    Any ideas?

I guess 11:55 Pm would be my Tuesday shave.

    Homeade preshave oil
Stirlings Sharp Dressed Man (soaps came and when I saw 'em I got excited and decided to shave this late)
    VDH pure badger
    merkur 23c
Big Ben White (no nicks, but some stubble left) I watched a couple tutorials and see what I am doing wrong
Cool Mint listerine for aftershave (wifey doesn't mind plus it is a real subtle smell before bed)

Good shave after a long 13 hour work day.

Once again it took quite a bit of mind-changing and deciding, but I finally selected the Arko Ice Mint cream this morning and I'm happy I did. Does it ever smell nice and it gives such rich and thick lather with an awesome menthol sensation. This Gillette balm is so moisturizing and soothing as well as cooling. The Aqua Velva put a final cold blast on this great shave. ;) :D

Jeff-I guess I need to add an ARKO cream to my Den.

    Thursday-A Day For Firsts!

    Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Bath Soap
    Soap: TABAC
Razor: 1950 40’s Style Super Speed
    Blade: Viking Sword (1)
    Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip 22mmx48mm
Aftershave: Pino Silvestre AS & EdT

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle a bit for my beard)

I got my first puck of TABAC. I paired it up with a fresh Viking Sword in my new 1950 Birth Year Super Speed. The 40’ Super Speed handles and shaves great. The TABAC lathered easily and provided a good slick lather. I like the scent, many don’t. I also used Pino Silvestre AS & EdT for the first time today. Addictive! With the TABAC and the Pino, I feel like I am in the Italian Alps on the way to Germany for a Stag hunt!

    A manly shave………

    Bob

That Arko Ice mint is amazing. Beats the Proraso easily on performance and price.

SOTD Jan 9 - straight week day 3

    Prep: hot shower
Razor: G. Wostenholm & Son CANUCK
    Razor: WW2 Gillette Khaki
    Blade: Feather (day 2)
    Brush: Wilkinson Sword
    Soap: Proraso white tub
    Passes: 3 (WTG x2, XTG)
Post: cold water, alum, Proraso blue

First pass done entirely with the straight today! I still find my self struggling to find a comfortable grip on the straight, which did have me concerned about shaving my neck area, but I took it slow and all is well. I did get a nice nick on each cheek... That square tip is not forgiving at all.

I am really enjoying shaving with the straight, but a round tip might have been a better starting razor.

Because of the nicks, I decided to add the alum to my post shave. It didn't sting as much as I feared!

Nice shave this morning. I had broken the scales on this razor so I redone them in fake MOP. Have a good one.

I use cetaphil for my hands because they dry easily. Does your face stay dry or do you just prefer cetaphil?

My entire body stays dry. I use Cetaphil in the mornings with my shave, but also apply it at night before I go to bed. I love the stuff and the fact that it contains no scent at all really is a big bonus.

I find that using Cetaphil just before I shave keeps my face from absorbing all of the water from my lather and drying the lather out. This allows the lather to be much slicker so that the razor doesn't irritate my skin. I encourage you to give it a try and see if you like the results.

Pre: Hot shower, Shea Moisture Facial Scrub, homemade Cedar PS cream
    Razor: M. E. Reppenhagen 5/8
Strop: Whipped Dog 3" 'Rich Man's Strop'
    Brush: Semogue 830 Boar
    Lather: RazoRock XXX
Shave: Two pass , plus DE touch-up
Post: Cold water rinse, alum block, Pre de Provence Shea aftershave balm

This morning, I broke out a new tub of RazoRock XXX, a very clean-smelling, manly, 'barber-shop' scent that I really found quite pleasant!
Like other RazoRock soaps, it easily produced a slick lather enabling me to get a smooth, close shave in two passes with the Rep. I can see that this tallow-based, Italian-made soap is going to be a regular part of the rotation.
    Happy Thursday, everyone!
