    Friday

    Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Bath Soap
    Soap: Synergy Cavendish
Razor: 1950 40’s Style Super Speed
    Blade: Viking Sword (2)
    Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip 22mmx48mm
    Aftershave: Pino Silvestre

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle a bit for my beard)

I went with the Synergy Cavendish today. This was my 2nd shave with both the Cavendish and the new Super Speed. Both did an excellent job. I am really liking the Synergy soap. The Viking blade is sliding along just fine too! I finished up with the Pino Silvestre AS and LEA AS Balsam (I like it better than Nivea).

I am off to San Antonio this morning.

    Friday:
    hot shower
    Somersets PSO
    PAL Adjustable 2 passes
    Personna Platinum Chrome (1)
    Parker 80R 2 passes
    Astra Superior Platinum (4)
    VDH badger
TOBS Lavender cream (sample) in a warm mug
    TOBS St James AS

Very disappointing morning. The PAL Adjustable I picked up this week was like dating a beautiful girl with no personality or brains. Great to look at but otherwise useless. I had trouble putting the blade in so that should have been my first indication but eventually I was successful and the adjuster worked fine so I cranked it wide open since that's how I like my FatBoy and my Slim. After the first pass I had the same amount of whiskers as when I started so I carefully examined razor and blade and made sure the blade was properly seated and adjusted. Pass number 2 gave the same results so out came the 80R with an Astra SP for 2 good passes to get me out the door. I'm going to fiddle with the PAL some more this weekend but I think I figured out why I don't see a lot of guys shaving with these.

2nd disappointment was my new VDH badger brush. Walgreens had the brushes and some of the VDH soaps marked way down last week so I grabbed a brush and a couple pucks of soap. I've been extremely pleased with my VDH boar brush despite the occasional shedding but the new badger didn't seem to have any backbone whatsoever. It just seemed to mash against my face when I tried to apply lather.

Fortunately the TOBS Lavender produced an abundance of luscious lather and my Parker/Astra combination made quick work of my stubble for a DFS. A splash of St James and I'm ready for rain after sub-zero temps and several inches of snow. I'll be wearing rubbers up to my knees today. TGIF baby!

    Frey's Day:

Prep: Hot compress, Crown Shaving Co. Supreme Glide Preshave Lotion
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
Soap: Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine Glycerin
    Razor: FaTip Piccolo Nickel
    Blade: Bolzano Superinox (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (1, 2, 3)
Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Pinaud Clubman AS Splash

My shave on Wednesday was both late enough in the day and close enough that I didn't need to shave yesterday, so there was plenty of stubble for the FaTip's aggressive nature to mow down. Loaded with a fresh Bolzano, and with extra care taken to keep the blade edge flatter against my face than I need to with the 41c, I was rewarded with a BBS shave free of irritation or weepers, save a tiny spot on my upper lip. The Clubman didn't even provide much of an alcohol burn. :happy108:

EDIT TO ADD: I've reached the "doughnut" stage with the first puck of the Coffee Jasmine. Now to decide if I want to open the second puck, or a puck of a different scent.

SOTD Jan 10 - straight week day 4

    Prep: hot shower
Razor: G. Wostenholm & Son CANUCK
    Razor: WW2 Gillette Khaki
    Blade: Feather (day 3)
    Brush: Wilkinson Sword
    Soap: Proraso white tub
    Passes: 3 (WTG x2, XTG)
    Post: cold water, Proraso blue

I didn't use the straight on my neck today, but I did get in two passes on my face, WTG and XTG. Almost made it nick free, but it turns out the straight doesn't like my mole...

I also switch hands today. It wasn't as awkward as I though it would be, but will take some getting used to.

Nice shave this morning. The edge on the C&S is dialed in nicely, just ask my ear lobe. Have a good one.

You didn't need that mole anyways. Besides, a doctor would have charged you to remove it.

So I used the Cetaphil for an aftershave since I used Stirling's Cool soap and already had a nice scent going on.
The cetaphil left my face very smooth and soft. Will definitely keep it handy for shaving.

    Straight Razor Week, Day Five

Pre: Hot shower, Shea Moisture Facial Scrub, homemade Cedar PS cream
    Razor: J. R. Torrey 4/8
Strop: Whipped Dog 3" 'Rich Man's Strop'
    Brush: Lijun Silvertip
    Lather: Cella Almond
Shave: Two pass , plus DE touch-up
Post: Cold water rinse, alum block, Black River Bay Rum

A fine, early morning shave with a 'new' Torrey razor. I do enjoy lathering on the Cella in the morn; the fragrance is so pleasant. It makes a great lather as well.
A DFS today; ending with a refreshing bay rum splash!
    Have a great weekend, all!

    Prep: Shower
    Razor: GEM Micromatic Open Comb
    Blade: GEM SS
    Brush: HIS Synthethic
    Lather: Stirling Sandalwood
Post: Pinaud Clubman, Target brand hand lotion
Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG sideburns. WTG, WTG chin.

Ever more impressed with this Stirling though more burning from the sandalwood although less intense than yesterday. I might be getting used to it. I shaved with the OCMM for the second time. The first time was with Arko/Proraso red tube super lathered and I got lots of razor burn. So when I applied the Pinaud I was expecting some sting. I was disappointed because I did not feel a thing! Zero razor burn. Was it the introduction of Stirling or my increased experience with the OCMM? I don't know but as before no cuts. Something I can't say about the 1912... Very underrated TTO and I believe the OCMM's reputation for violence is completely undeserved.
