A work colleague gave me a rolls razor a while ago, silver plated, and made around 1940, it really is a wonderful thing, but i've not considered shaving with it because i didn't think i could get it sharp enough( the strops have worn down over the years), do they still make them or are you using a vintage one????.
    Regards.
    Ian.

They stopped making'em somewhere in the fifties, so no new Rolls Razors. But you can find them often on Ebay. Check the pictures, though, or just ask the vendor. The hone tends to break easily, so that is a no-no.

Be sure to check the great post by gregindallas, The 'what is" and 'how to" for the Rolls Razor:

There you will find almost all ins and outs of the Rolls Razor!

    Chubbz 1
    Prep SC
    R-41
    Voskhod (3)
    Cold Water Rag
    A.V. Ice Sport

    3 Passes = DFS!

A very, very happy shave today. I thought I had left Chubbz 1 at a hotel in Gainesville. I called them about it but they said there was nothing they could do. It turns out that the case I had it stored in fell out of the bag and slid under the seat in the car. I vow to never travel with Chubbz 1 again!

    Have a great week Ya'll!

    Omega Wooden Handle
    Super Speed/7 AM day 6
Valobra Menthol SS :love029: :love029: :love029: :smiley freezing:
Tet-a-tet AS Balsam :love029: :love029: :smiley freezing: :smiley freezing:

I was looking for another mentholated soap to shave with this morning, and I only found it about a minute ago after the job was done, so this means my den needs some cleaning up. The Valobra Menthol soap lathers like a wild man and feels very comfortable on the skin. The cooling effect to me anyway, is minimal. The Tet-a-tet balsam on the other hand, is VERY cooling. ;) :D

Another Shave in Honor of our Queen

Went out for breakfast today, and came home with some bagels for lunch and football, and a need for a shower and a shave. I wanted a lime scent today, and I think I have just the products to oblige:

    My Picks:

EBC Preshave-a nice neutral preshave that is pillowy
Omega 80005-great with soap and cream, bowl lather or face lather
TSD Lime Soap-my first TSD soap, lots of lather
Gillette 7 o'clock Platinum Black Ninja (2)-a very forgiving while still very sharp blade
    Merkur 37 C Slanty-no words needed, I have a new brother
    Witch Hazel-cools the face nicely
TSD Neroli-a little orangy scent to blend with the lime
    Pinaud Lime Sec-the finishing touch

A very nice shave. Nice quiet Sunday relaxation.

I am glad that Chubbz is safe and sound. If worst came to worst, you could yank the 20mm boar knot from Chubbz deuce and drop a finest in there. It would be slightly larger then the original.

I think I like the Tet-a-Tet ASB better then shave cream. Both are nice choices.

    Gillette Old Type
Gillette 7OC Super Stainless (Russian Green)
    Simpson Chubby 2 Best
    Ingram SC
    Alum
    TSD ISZ Witch hazel
    Nivea ASB

A nice cold water shave with some mentholated goodness to enjoy this 12F/-10C morning.

At least it looks like it will break the freezing mark for the rest of the week.

    Merkur 38C + Astra SP (D4, Stropped)
    Omega 10005 Boar

Bloody enjoyable. My Merkur has been just flawless the last few days, making me anxious to get my 37C and give her a whirl. I may leave my other DE87 for the wife since I gave my 2nd one away this week to a friend who's new to DE shaving.
