How'd your face feel with the horsehair if it was a rough shave? My horsehair brush is still a bit prickly.

You see, I always use Vie-Long horsehair brush when I'm at home. Love to use only one brush, you know... It is in use for about 2,5 or 3 years for now. Feels prickly before the first pass, but then becomes softer. When I need it to be more soft, I just soak it in hot water for a couple of minutes. I rarely soak it however because it sheds. Don't know for how long it will last, but I already have a spare brush ;). Dale was so kind to give me a Koh-I-Noor 'Big Boar'. When this brush will retired and go for reknotting, the Big Boar will become my only home brush for sure.
After rough shave I use lighter swirling motions and more painting when face-lather. Besides, I shave with cool water. I also found that alum/balm combo helps a lot.

    Slanted Shave # 18

    Nice and Easy

One of the things I love about this razor is that it is as mild or wild as u want it to be. I wanted a nice easy shave and Slanty delivered again.

    Proraso pre/post
    Omega 80005 (first use)
MWF-the only way to start off a new brush
    Gillette 7 o'clock Black
    Merkur 37 C Slant
    Witch Hazel
    Alcolado Glacial

The new brush was a success. The handle was comfortable, the bristle had the appropriate backbone, the slightly longer loft then I use today gave me a little luxury.

I would have to say this was one of my nicest shaves ever.

Pic Below is my brush and one I am breaking in for a friend's son after a soak:

    Basler Inox 5/8
    NF2213
    Arlington Cream
    Alum
Boots Freshwood balm mixed with witch hazel and Azzaro Pre-electric (A remnant from the dark days)
Re-honed this blade, again, and this time its about as sharp as its ever been. It was 30 laps on Crox which maxed it out and the shave was extremely good. I have better razors but I'm happy with this now and being stainless steel it will make a great travel kit razor.

The balm was an experiment, its a cheap but reasonable balm which I find a bit thick, oily and lacking fragrance. I had a little Azzaro Pour Homme pre electric shave left over from before I started wet shaving so tossed that in and further diluted it with some witch hazel. It is now about the consistency of Gillette ASB, smells better and isn't quite so gloupy. Its in a pump dispenser now and will get a lot more use.

Thanks Dean, I figured if I was going to use all three Polish creams I may as well use the same brush, ;)

I hope Pentax comes out with a new entry level DSLR body so I can upgrade....

    Schick type O injector
    Personna II injector blade
    Kingsley soap
    Omega Professional Boar

This week's soap, Kingsley, is distinguished largely by being the most odor free product I've tried; it doesn't even smell of soap. After not so good results on Monday, I've found the knack. Lots of water including soaking the puck, load the brush a bit longer than I normally would, face lather, and...it works. Not really sure why I bought it, but it doesn't need to go to waste.

I'm using a Pentax Optio S1, which is on sale for $89.99 now, doh haha....

Its not full auto, you can't adjust shutter speed, but for the most part you can adjust everything else.... The last couple of pictures have been done in auto mode with the ISO set at 100, I use auto white balance in Gimp and it barely has to adjust anything....

Outdoors though I go manual because its kind of wonky, but low light it works better to just use auto picture mode, which is what my bathroom is, low light haha.
