Another near-BBS shave with one small weeper - likely from pushing the cartridge to 6 days, but I had a moment of enlightenment where I realized why I'd been finding the neck more troublesome. As a face-latherer, I'd been spending more time building the lather on my cheeks, and forgetting to spend enough time doing so on my neck. Because, obviously, there's nothing vital there that I might cut without sufficient lather. Duh.

 

That's Williams in there. Calling it an All-American Shave today, with the exception of my Russian blades and Italian brush. Close enough. Drink some burr, watch some baseball, grill something, and have a safe holiday gents.

Great cold-water shave. The Speick combo works really well for me, and with the Fatboy on 4 I achieved a nice smooth, comfortable shave. No irritation, no burn, and a great finish. I also concentrated on holding the Fatboy by the very bottom of the handle. I've noticed that my grip has been drifting upwards towards the head lately, and I get better results with a low grip, letting gravity be my friend.

Just a quick two-pass shave today, since I'm starting rather late. A little careless under my nose, got a little weeper. It didn't hurt and it stopped bleeding quickly.

My All American Shave didn't go as well as I expected.

Prep: shower, Alba Botanical Scrub.
Brush: Oscar Grade A Brush.
Razor: '62 Slim.
Blade: Personna Lab.
Soap: Mike's Orange, Cedarwood, and Black Pepper sample.
Post: cold water rinse, Thayer's WH Rose, Clubman.

For some reason, the Mike's was giving me a lot of trouble. I couldn't find my Mike's Barbershop Stick which has be kind of disappointed. The lather wasn't that great and I had a hard time getting the glide and slickness I'm used to. I also tried out my Ginger's Garden Menthol snow. I did a test lather with it, but couldn't dial in the lather. I will talk to my trusted associate crackstar and see what tips he has when lathering this soap. It smells magnificent, but I need more practice. The Clubman didn't give me any burn, which I was surprised about since the shave was so mediocre. Better luck next time. Happy 4th of July my brothers and sisters!

e. Soap: VDH Deluxe, plus a dab of both the Proraso and glycerin
f. Shave: 3 passes & touch up; probably could've done just two...close!
g. Post: cold water rinse; towel dry, Aqua Velva Ice Blue & Per de Provence balm

Wide-open Fat Boy gave a very nice close shave(!), DFS+!
No more foolin' around. I'll probably just keep it at the 9 setting.

Happy Fourth of July. Today, I revisited the Schick E3 with a genuine Schick blade. Very nice shave. I broke out the Proraso for this shave and the FS brush did a great job with the lather.​

Smoother than silk, as cold as the Arctic, and so comfortable is the best way to describe this shave. The Godrej Menthol Mist freezes a man's face so well and gives great lather and skincare. The Anherb conditioner and the Penguin intensify the chill so well - wowwwwwwww, does it feel good!
