    Saturday's SOTD
Razor: Joris Palladium Black\white pin stripe
    Blade: Gillette Spoiler (D13)
Brush: Vie-Long Beehive Silvertip Fiber 24mm
    Bowl: ShaveWorks 4.25"
    Pre Shave Scrub: RazoRock GLO
Pre Shave Oil: Pacific Shaving Iced
Shave Soap: Saponificio Varesino Manna Di Sicilia
    Post: Monster Alum Block
Aftershave: Saponificio Varesino Manna Di Sicilia

Great two pass shave this morning with no touchups required. I really should use this Joris Palladium pinstripe more often as the weight feels nice in the hands, mows down the whiskers with ease and I REALLY like the black\white pinstripe look.

I was asked if I could provide some feedback on the Saponificio Varesino Manna Di Sicilia Aftershave that I used with yesterday's shave so I decided to also use the soap in the same aroma. If you haven't tried any of SV shave soaps you really need to treat yourself. It is a hard vegan based soap that lathers with ease (at least for me), the aroma blooms as you lather and the pre/post shave is among the best out there. Now on to the aftershave.

To my nose, once you flip the top the aroma appears more pronounced than the shave puck. To me it is a wonderful mid strength masculine scent and yesterday after I applied to my face and neck I then ran my hands over each forearm as to not waste the aftershave still on my hands. Two hours later while I work I could faintly pick up the aroma. I should note here that I have severe sinus issues that require X2 day treatments from here to eternity so maybe stronger for others. This aftershave is not a splash or a balm but in the middle so guess it is closer to a milk aftershave. It is absorbed into the skin rather quickly but leaves a nice smooth feel on the face. When paired with their soap and it's slickness a wonderful one-two punch. The aroma is complex and I pickup a sweet tobacco scent, followed by what reminded me of a Spanish leather cream I use to have and then some peppery/spicy notes but a light floral hint to it. I then went out to do a search to see what notes are used in Manna Di Sicilia and found this over on IB site:

Scent: Manna Di Sicilia - Lightly scented with Top notes of Orange, Bergamot and Sage. Mid notes of Tobacco flower, rose, cloves and hydrangea and Base notes of Cedar wood, Amber and sweet patchoully.

Would I buy it again, yes along with the shave soap and having tried all four of his soaps and aftershaves, this trails only the Fern in aroma department as the soap and aftershave are the same formula.

Brush: Jerusalem Olive Wood/WD Silvertip 24/48
Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue
Cream/Soap: Castle Forbes cedarwood & sandalwood cream
    Blade: Feather (2)
Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black Balm, Old Spice original Shulton 1973 glass cologne Stopper #4

The Castle whipped up nicely with the Silvertip. The Gillette Tech is a nice mild razor for me even with a Feather blade. Very nice two pass shave with some touchup. Warm water rinse and pat dry. Some WH and after cleanup some JB Balm and then some Old Spice original Shulton from 1973? The Spice is nice, go get some! Remember what my buddy Frank said "The Best is yet to come"

It's called an oogle. I'm from North Carolina and I always bought them while in charleston South Carolina. It's in their low country folklore.

Guy, I'd have to say lather wise, it takes a lot of product to get a good lather. It has a pleasant soapy scent and the moisturizing is decent but it is expensive. I'll be interested in your review of the SdM 40% AM which costs more.

    C,
Just curious. How does the shave of the Short Comb compare to the other iKon razors?

Agreed it is expensive and I had a different experience in lathering it up, quite easy and not much product. Very similar for me like when I use Tiki tallow soaps and I use a modified "Marco method" with my lather technique. The person I bought the 40% version from stated they are creamier in lather and little better in the protection area. He bought five and stated he was selling two as he felt it would take some time to use up all the product and maybe by then she will have a 50% version available.

Thank you for your kind words, Guy! :)

    Hi, Mark.
This Short-Comb is not bad. It isn't a mild razor, but not overly aggressive, either. I prefer it to the SB and Slant models, but not as nice as the 102. I am not sure if I will keep it, yet as I need a bit more time to see if will work out or not. :)

I am familiar with Marco but not his lathering method. It does lather rather easy, you're right Guy. I may be spoiled, using MDC everyday. It looks as though as the %tage of AM increases. the more creamy the lather and protection. That's good. Hope it's not too $$.
