    Thanks for the feedback.

I agree the bourbon and vanilla give this bay rum variety a unique but quite good aroma. I emailed them for the fourth time and still awaiting a reply. Last one I sent to them was beginning of June and they stated end of month available on their website but seven weeks later still has not shown up on their site.

Gotta be careful changing your "habit". Withdrawal can be serious stuff.

Island climate, island time, island life all deserves a shave soap to compliment it.

So after my island siesta, I break out my sample puck of Island Man soap (Stirling) and ready for my 3 pm shave.

Haven't used it before but was most pleasantly surprised by the scent when I opened it up - so I just rubbed it on my face and loaded some up on the new brush. Will take a bit to get used to developing a lather with the shorter, smaller Omega beehive brush, but I was able to work up a decent later and off I went.

Shave time begins with a GSB blade popping out first from my travel kit and into the Aristocrat. (Neal this is a fine razor!)

Though I seem to be more focused on the lather-making, this razor/blade combo blew through the 2+days of stubble and 3 passes later I am all cleaned up and just as smooth as can be.

A splash of TSD YingYang seems to work great with the soap.

I'm off to enjoy the late-afternoon sun!

    Ahoy!

Razor - Feather SS AC/Gillette New LC
    Blade - [IMG] (6) voskhod-teflon-coated.jpg (4)
    Brush - Omega 10066 (BoS)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post - Cold Water splash, Nivea

No Artist Club today. Took a day to let things heal a bit more especially under my chin. I also discovered a mosquito bite under my left ear from our time in the woods on Tuesday so let that have a day to get out of the way. Did get a very nice two pass DFS from the New and Voskod. Stayed with the BoS and Fat and man I really do like that combination. I may need to buy a couple more of those brushes just to have around and I could convert fairly easily to daily MWF use. I'm going to have to use the Vie-Long with it some too to see how it really does with it.

Back to the Feather in the morning and another week to continue to dial it in. I feel like taking it a bit easier is helping the results overall even if it takes a bit more time. That's why I think my plan for August will be beneficial as it will feature the Feather again, but not exclusively.

Really looking forward to this shave. My favorite Barbershop soap and two new products that came in today that smell awesome when popping the caps. My order from TVBShaving came into day and all three Extro products I ordered are as good as the hype I have read just on the aroma factor and we will see what it like once I put it use. Also will be trying Mickey Lee Lime Preshave Butter and this stuff smells awesome. Not really sure how to apply it but will go with my normal routine with preshave and see how it goes. Yes indeed, I think I'm going to like this shave tomorrow.

(Sorry, no pic from my phone)

    Razor: Standard Raw (white, silver...whatever)
Blade: Astra SP (4-5? Lost count)
    Soap: Maggard London Barbershop

I've been having fun with my new Standard razor (no, not a Gillette New Standard). Being completely aluminum it is EXTREMELY light. Too bad the proprietary design (threads on the handle, rather than on the top cap) prohibits trying a different handle. The angle has been easy to find due to the flattened area angling from the top cap thru the blade gap space to the bottom. This razor does not seem as efficient as other, heavier razors I've used, but it does a decent job. Requires some touch-ups at the end of my 2 pass (XTG, ATG) shave. Blade's about done, time to switch razors!

    On to the weekend!

    Fresh Fatboy Friday
I used CRSW Savon #1 for the first time today after trading for it. The scent is a fresh lavender, powder and other floral notes. To me it is in the same family as B&M Latha, so perhaps classic barbershop is a good category. The Colonel made excellent lather from it very easily. The post shave feel is among the best I've tried. This is a great soap that doesn't get as much attention as it should. The Fatboy destroyed my stubble, leaving a couple small weepers due to my lapses in technique. I finished with B&M Cologne Russe and found that it matches and compliments Savon very well. This is a combination I look forward to using again.
