Wednesday: Gillette New Razor / 7 OCY blade / Cella SS / Omega 10065 brush / Barbasol Brisk Aftershave

Been getting great shaves with the New razor. Must be getting better at this cuz before now, open comb razors just tore me up.

    • [*]Prep: Rite Aid Skin Cleansing Cream & Hot Towel
[*]Brush: The "Ever Roddy 300" an Ever Ready 300 refurbished with silvertip badger knot by "The Knotty Badger"
      [*]Cream: SCS Avocado Oil
[*]Razor: '22 Gillette NEW Standard - Silver
      [*]Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge (shave 10)
[*]Oil Pass: Leisureguy's Last-Pass Shave Oil
[*]EDT: Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel Toner & SCS Avocado Oil EDT

[*]Result: Wonderful, BBS shave. Even on the 10th shave the SharpEdge performed superbly. The NEW Standard did not hurt the shave either. I seem to get the best DE shaves with my several Gillette NEW razor models.

    Trumper Sandalwood shaving cream
Merkur Futur w/ Gillette Sharpedge blade
Thayer's Witch Hazel; Gentlemen's Refinery AS Balm

A nice setup today...the green box Gillettes worked well for me in the Futur.

Now, this was an odd one. A straight shaver forced by circumstance to use a DE. A damn fine shave, to be sure, but... what's the fun in that? I haven't used one of these things in months. Where's the risk to life and limb? Where's the excitement? Where's the loud scraping noises? And where did all these tiny little abrasions come from?!

Poor, sad me... need to get one of my other Wapis back from the shop before I start feeling withdrawl. :(

    Penworks Jade brush
    MWF stick
    Superspeed from the 70's
    7 O'Clock Yellow blade
    Osage Rub aftershave
Curzon EDT, Geo. F. Trumper (in the tiny spray vial)

Sounds like you scoffed at the DE and it showed you. :)

    Hardware:
Brush: Knotty Badger Battle scarred brush
    Blade: Red IP (1)
    Razor: Knotty Badger Bat-razor

    Software:
    Soap: Mama Bear Iced Lime
    Splash: TSD Double Iced Raspberry
    Milk: TSD Raspberry
    Cologne: Acqua Di Gio

No fault of Rodd, the Bat-razor is way way too mild. After WTG and ATG still had five o'clock shadow. Will have to see if my open comb head fits on the Bat handle.

The Shark blade is pretty good, but I find they don't last very long and aren't quite as sharp as I'd like.
