    Tonight's shave was awesome. Every element was exquisite. I used;
Hot water wash, with a washcloth
    FS silvertip
    WSP Rustic Shave Soap Tobacco
    Blacked out Gillette Tech
    Persona lab (2)
    Pinaud Special Reserve
I'm bbs smooth and smelling soooo nice. Love the uber comfy feel of this gillette tech.
Hope y'all did as well, or better. 20180713_204530_resized.jpg

    SATURDAY MORNING'S SHAVE

Fragrance - Tommy Hilfiger (Original 90's Vintage)
Aftershave - Tommy Hilfiger (Original 90's Vintage)
Shave Soap - Catie's Bubbles '95 Liquid Labels Luxury Shave Soap Formula
Deodorant - Lucky Girl Boutique's Pure Body Delights "Tommy Boy"
    Pre-shave Oil - Lather & Wood "unscented"
Post-Shave Balm - Nicci Marie Hyaluronic Acid Anti-Aging Face Serum
Razor - Antique Gillette ABC "Empire" Razor circa 1908-1912 (fully restored/re-plated by Razor Emporium)
    Blade - Feather HI-Stainless *3rd Shave
Razor Stand - ThinkGeek Executive Knight Pen Holder
Brush - London Cutlers Antique Silver Modified Synthetic Boar Hair
Brush Stand - Jac Zagoory's Butterfly Pen Stand
Soap Bowl - Paul Revere silver plated replica sugar bowl

Going with the real vintage gear.

***EDIT - Rough shave this morning. Pulling, tugging and weepers-jeepers all over. The Feather blade was the best performer in this razor, but appears to quickly go dull. The blade angle on the ancient razor just isn't optimzed for thin modern blades and it forces me to use the sharpest blade in the business to avoid tugging and it also seems now that this poor angle contributes to the dulling of the edge of the blade with only 2 shaves (the first two shaves with this blade were great, but this 3rd shave was brutal).

It also seems like I will need to keep shaving with this to get the angle and pressure just right to help keep the shave good and blade edge intact. Despite the rough shave, the post-shave smoothness of my skin is very good. I kept trying to change up pressure and angle and I think I improved things by the 3rd pass. I was working against 2 days of growth. As much as how I LOVE how this antique razor looks, it's not anywhere near a bullet-proof shaver. It's a difficult shaver that needs the right blade and might need a lot of practice to learn the angles and pressure to avoid irritation and edge wear. I can't even call this razor 'aggressive' because it's not efficient at all. It tugs with any blade except the sharpest and the blades only last a few shaves before needing replacement.

So, just remember if you go for one of these antique ABC Gillette 3-piece's it is NOT the same as the Old-Type. The Old-Type is much more reliable, doesn't tug and shaves with more grace and has a much better blade angle for comfort than the fancy ABC model. I consider the ABC razor a challenge. I had to find the right blade and now I have to find the right technique and blade-change rotation number. Hopefully once I get good at this razor I'm not having to swap blades after every 2 shaves. Feather blades ain't cheap.

    RECENT SHAVES

    Prep: pre shave soap mix
    Razor: Wilkinson Sword Classic
    Blade: Super- Max Stainless
    Brush: Yaqi 26mm synthetic
    Soap: Siliski Soaps Patchouli Blend
    Post: Stirling Glastonbury Balm

Very nice shave the other day. Siliski soaps have turned out to be one I really like, performance is top notch, scents are nice and natural. doesn't behave like other vegan soaps, lather is much denser and post shave feel is impressive. Finished the shave with Glastonbury to keep that patchouli scent going all day. could still detect the scent when I woke up in the morning.

    20180713_111848.jpg

    Prep: splash of warm water
    Razor: Maggard MRG
    Blade: Gillette Black
    Brush: Fine Angel Hair Synehtic
    Soap: Uncle Jon's Tahitan Dream
    Post: SC Courage balm

This was one rough shave with lots of tugging, redness, and nicks. I think the culprit is the water at my GF house because the lathers are different and lack volume for some reason. The scent of Tahatian Dream is a beach type but more of a sweet drink rather than suntan lotion. unfortunately my skin started to burn the 2nd pass, not sure if it was from the soap or the damage caused the 1st pass. Wrapped up with Courage balm which felt amazing, took some time to rub it in to help repair this catastrophe. Hope everyone is doing well and getting better shaves.

July 13 - Let the Meetup begin!

    Razor - Soviet Mladost II
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Soap - Russian "Start" Cream
Brush - Russian supremely sucky super shedder boar thingy
    Post - Alum

First of all, kudos to @wristwatchb for hosting a "pre meetup" get together tonight. Dinner was great and Charlie, @Drygulch and @mrchick along with my wife and Charlie's wife had a great time as well! Yep, lots of razor talk but also talk about families, houses, former places of residence - you know - just a good time had by all. Fortunately the restaurant I recommended came through with fantastic food and service as well. I knew having Ivan standing in the kitchen the whole time would help.

Home and time to shave to be ready for breakfast tomorrow. As promised, a weekend of all Russian for me. The Mladost II razor - it isn't horrible, it isn't good, but it's definitely Soviet era "meh". I paired a Sharp Star with it just to make sure I had a fighting chance. (Remember, all Sharp Stars should be returned to Cartel HQ immediately - they really are horrible, terrible, unbelievably bad blades). I used the Russian shave cream and even the really horrible boar brush. Seriously, by the end of two more shaves there may be no bristles left. Amazingly enough it did whip up a usable lather from the cream and I had a pretty good shave, albeit not as nice as the past week.

Two passes and touch ups and I have a DFS. Nothing spectacular but better than the gear might be expected to produce. Sharp Star to the rescue. (What am I saying - send them in - horrible stuff).

For those of you in the Lou we'll meet up at the designated Golden Corral around 8:15ish. Breakfast and good times is next on the agenda for the meetup. For those elsewhere, have a great start to your weekend!

Stirlings Bay Rum is a sweet version...certainly with cloves strongly present. Mike's Bay Rum is more spicy - also with a strong cloves presence

Second use of a Vreto soap and this time it was the Sandalwood.
I really like these soaps and I really like this scent.
If you like your sandalwood unadulterated then this is for you, think Stirling without the coconut in background.
    Have a great weekend everyone.
