New
Today's shave was with a freshly acquired, restored, and honed razor. I had a 2 pass shave, that left me with a DFS. Zero issues. I tried a new soap, that face lathered easily. Just wet the face, rub the soap on it, and lather with the brush. The only problem, was the tingling from the soap, a minute after applying, this tells me the soap might be a little hot. The second lather and pass confirmed it. Plus, the soap was very feminine. The wife will get this, and see see how she likes it. Legs aren't as sensitive as faces.

Razor- Joseph Rodgers & Sons. "Monkey Tail Razor"
Brush- RazoRaock 400 with WD High Mountain Badger knot.
Soap- BathHouse Shave Soap. "Root" scented. It was very perfumy. My wife picked it up for me, in Hot Springs Arkansas.
Aftershave- Florida Water.

Brush - 30 DC LE

Second night with the Old Style to keep it nice and aggressive. Changed to Tabac with the LE brush. And, of course, the lather didn't disappoint. My wife enjoys Tabac and even noticed it when she walked by. That smoky/leathery scent is very nice. A classic in my book and always nice to get back around to it.

Two passes with the Sharp Star blade for another BBS, though the alum was a bit spiky in a couple of spots. No blood, but with this razor and blade it doesn't take much to create a hot spot or two. Still, nothing to worry about and the second shave of July was a great one. Three days to Cinco de Julio!!

It is a nice looking razor. I received it mid June from a group buy on another forum which helped with the price. I'm sixteen shaves into a thirty shave focus and I've enjoyed every one of them.

Also, I wish to read tales of the Oneblade Genesis razor. It is also pricey. It is also badass, like something a StarFleet captain would shave with in the 24th century.

***EDIT - 3 pass BBS awesomeness with the Old-Type and Wilkinson Sword. I will never use any other blade with the Old-Type with results like this. It's been over 6 hours and my face is still smooth as marble and the scent of Atomic Bay Rum is still lingering. Just a great shave all the way around today.

Like the Bay Rum but personal opinion, if they went with something other than Atomic and possibly a different logo as well as the space man on the jug, the jug would look better with logo something along the lines of Pyrate Cove Soapworks, or similar design such as one of the soap logo's from Black Ship Grooming would have pulled off the jug a lotter better and I would have bought a jug instead of the bottle as it would have looked more authentic. Nice choice going the full gambit on the Atomic line

Yeah, Douglas Smythe seems to have oddball, playful ideas about how to market his stuff, but I think he has talent at coming up with good scents in his products. I forgive the goofy marketing ideas and accept what he does 'right'. I just take his marketing silliness as humor, but silliness aside, he makes solid shaving products that are really, really good. I think Douglas would likely do better turning over marketing to another person, but then again, there is something somewhat charming in an odd way about knowing the ridiculous names and themes come from the same guy that is making good gear. It's like laughing at the bad jokes of a friend who you still enjoy hanging around. And when you watch the "I'd Lather Be Shaving" show he's on, you 'get' where those spaz-geek marketing concepts emanate from.
