Razor - Gillette New Deluxe SC
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Stirling Island Man
Brush - Stirling Pro Style Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Another mid-90's day today but a couple of quick showers to remind us it can still do that. In other words........steamy. Time to go to the islands, thus....Stirling Island Man soap with the Stirling brush. Staying with the New Deluxe for one more shave. This haunted razor shaves like Casper the friendly ghost now and is definitely a favorite. I put the razor and Voskhod through three full passes to wind down a bit as I went and was rewarded with that baby smooth feel and quiet alum. Nothing better in my world. Have a great Wednesday!

    Tabac Tuesday SOTN

I haven't used my Gillette Atra in a while and he was staring at me tonight. A quick 3 pass shave was quite simple with crazy tabac lather. The personna twin II plus blades perform very well (for a cart ) without shredding my face.

No lie - My grandfather still uses (DAILY) his original Gillette Trac II from the early 70's (with these blades that I send him). His razor longevity isn't too shabby for a handle that is constructed of mostly aluminum... Have a great night and Wednesday everyone.

    Josh

    SHAVE OF THE DAY
    20190702_175906.jpg

Mama Bears British Leather was todays soap of choice. Mama Bears is aparently under new ownership and now being produced right here in Michigan, this is good news as MB has had a few rumors of closing down over the years. This was one of the first translucent soaps i tried (besides Col Conk) when first starting this hobby and is a soap base that has been around a long while.

Being a glycerin soap the scents can be fairly strong and plenty of options to choose from. British Leather is a light leather scent but rather than saddle or rawhide, it is more of a clean "British" kind of Leather (if that makes scents) sort of on the sweet and clean side as far as Leather is concerned.

Despite there being people that frown at the thought of a glycerin soap the Performance is decent. I think sometimes people regurgatate the same opinions of others which sway their own opinions and i have been guilty of this as well in the past. While soaps can be very much YMMV this stuff lathers quick and provided a pretty darn good shave. The lather does start out with a cottage cheese consistancy but gets right with the addition of enough water. Managed a DFS and was quite happy with the results. Finished off with Reef Point Aviator Balm to keep with the Leather theme.

Hope everyone had a great shave!

How does the plum-scented shaving soap pair with the Davidoff Adventure fragrance? Interesting combo.

Only the first use with the Oumo Silvertip but I’m really impressed with it’s incredible softness and firm back bone.

Aqua Velva 5 in 1 ASB

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Williams Mug Shave Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #371 Badger/Boar brush. I did two passes with the Valet VB2 razor with a Valet AutoStrop SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Aqua Velva 5 in 1 ASB. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
